Despite the earlier swim, I also wanted to get out on a course today, but I have decided that needs to be earlier vs. later. Picked Orange because Brown looked sort of yucky to do...
Tried the IceBugs today, and while my foot hurt initially, it calmed much sooner than with the hokas. The fact that my hip was super tight was more of an issue since I could not run at all for the first 30 minutes, and that part of the course was made for the runners. Oh, well, it was a very beautiful day, I finished a course, and, so far, the only tick I found was still crawling.
S-1 Trail run - 14/14 (split rank/overall rank)
1-2 Trail run - 10/11
2-3 Road run - 16/12
3-4 Some nav, but flat and open - 14/12
4-5 some nav but still wide open - 14/11
5-6 tough leg for Orange, walked and nailed it, gained 6 place, as I expected I would - 8/5
6-7 initially some sorting through crap but then long trail run, lost two places - 7/7
7-8 Trail run with climb at end, poor split but maintained overall - 12/7
Now, we get into the tougher nav...
8-9 as expected, while the control was just off of the trail, it was in green, in a pit, and the flag was only visible when you were on top of the pit, gain four places, which I maintain the rest of the way - 2/3
9-10 long trail run if you made the right choice, finally loose enough to run a good bit of the way, control trivial at the end - 6/3
10-11 trail run - 9/3
11-12 poor route choice, not liking that we have to cross over the creek again and venture into the green slash. Take an out of the way route choice. 6/3
12-13 Ugh - green briars! Ugh - green briars! Ugh - green briars! Found the control on the other side of the magnificent rootstock. OK, now off to the finish!
13-14 450 meters later, I punch the Finish control. OK, not the most wonderful way to finish a course with the last two controls and the long "run in" to the finish, but I made it!
