Note

I swam sometime in the last two weeks, though I have failed to record it, but mostly I sat around feeling sorry for myself because my body has continued to betray me (at least in my mind). Ironically, I never had high hopes for my body since I am generously built, and I am lazy, and I have no motivation, but when I can't even unclip from the bike pedal without pain, then I will indulge in some self-pity.

More sad right now about the outcome of the results for the WRC. Still surprises me when someone who has only used SI once even thinks they can get it right for such a big event. I am super dumb in my years long learning curve or they are super smart.

In other news, a chain of events of sorts...

EX2 Jim has sold off his Cranky Monkey (CM) MTB race series. No more EX2 6, 9, or 12 hour lap races or summer bike races. Good timing, pun likely intended, since the lap timing software license expires in March 2015.

The reason there will be no more MTB race timing for me is that Jim sold the CM, and I feel no compunction to continue with the new owner. Like the new guy fine, but really sick of the bike races, especially the super long days in the heat, as well as the uncertainty of the weather affecting the event, so I know I can say no.

Jim is expanding his trail races to replace the MTB races. Trail races are less work and less stress, especially on the injury front. Don't usually need 4 transports in one trail race, but it has happened in a MTB race.

Anyway, the money Jim was paid for the CM trademark will be used to purchase a chip timing system. This is good since he is adding summer races back to the schedule which will include a 5k option for the first time. I do not want to manually time anything shorter than a 5 miler, so I said I would help his staff learn the chip timing system in 2015, and then I can walk away for real. I think I have given my 1 year notice each of the last 5 years but this one is for real. Only orienteering events after 2015!!

On a side note, I have rediscovered my joy for sewing/quilting, and I finished this T-Shirt quilt for Sharon Good. It was a long forgotten promise I made many years ago to make one for her 80th birthday. I think I finished it before her 81st - a personal record.

Lailah has asked to spend time with her Grammy. Exhausting, but oh so rewarding.

And, my daughter, Sarah presented the idea of crocheting a rug from the t-shirt scraps, and I was off and running, to the detriment of everything else during my free time. I have used up all of the scraps that I had, and the other night I crossed over to the dark side and started cutting up Roger's pocket t's. Shhh - don't tell...I don't think he will even notice. :) I am aiming for 10'x12' - no textiles are safe at this point!!
