Note

Moved an injured butterfly to the side of the road - half of one side was broken nearly off. It couldn't fly. Would it have been more humane to put it to "sleep" or do they recover?

Biking (PWNF) 1:45:00 [1] 21.0 mi (5:00 / mi)
weight:195lbs shoes: Bike Sandals

Slept for 5 straight hours. More then the total of the last two nights. Yeah!

Headed down to Prince William to ride while Amy did a course with the permanent controls. Sadly, I gave her a course with the control placements before the corrections had been made to the master map. Oops! She was a good sport about it. She wore my FR, which we reviewed after we got home, and it made for some interesting search patterns.

My ride was very pleasant. Parked at Turkey Run and rode the fire road to Scenic Drive. Did not like riding on the gravel road, especially on the little downhills. Was a little concerned about the uphills as well, but I made sure I kept pedaling. Pretty sure I would still be a weenie even with a MTB.

Route was:
TREC - Taylor Farm Road to Scenic Drive
Scenic Drive counterclockwise to Oak Ridge Campground (in and out)
Continue Scenic Drive to somewhere between parking lots H & I. Once I started dropping too many contour lines, I turned around. I didn't want to end up all the way at the bottom and have a big climb back up.
Back clockwise to parking lot D (end of the one way).
Back the other way to Old Blacktop Road, Taylor Farm Road (both gravel roads), car.

Had some Gatorade and then south out of TREC to Scenic Drive, passing parking lot D, and back to TREC via Taylor Farm Road. A little less afraid of the gravel road the third time.

Ran into Amy struggling with the bad control locations. Helped her look a few minutes for one of them, but no luck. Realized then what I had done to her. Sent her off to look for ones on the map which I thought were more correct. Some were and some weren't. Ah, well, it was a day in the woods, and not so unpleasant at that, so I think I was forgiven.

While she was doing a few more controls, I rode half of Taylor Farm Road going back to the one control location to look again myself. I found it this time about 100 meters further from the road and 50 meters to the left.

Anyway, it was a very pleasant morning for a ride, and I was generally in the shade the whole time. Yeah.

No PT.

EX2 12 Hours CM MTB Quantico

A bit less of the heat/humidity than the last couple of days, but still a long hot day. AmyL was a big help, and it was nice to have the company. Pretty wasted after, though didn't go to bed until midnight.

Unfortunately, no good time or place to run through PT.

Note

A truncated day at the office one the temps inside exceeded 80. Ugh! So, I ran some errands and then with AmyL's help got set up for the EX2 race tomorrow. Made some cookies as well.

Sadly, no PT - too late by the time I was ready for the next day.

Humoring the guys in my life - Roger (hubby) and Mike (PT) - I rode back and forth to therapy instead of to work and back later when it is going to be ~100. Well, truth be told, I had already decided that I wasn't up to another hot ride home, but I am glad they care. :)

Always love coming this direction on the W&OD. Took the Dinwiddie hill to the house. Slow and steady.

Awake again for good at 3 AM, but not inclined to get out of bed until ~7:30. Half expected to have an email from Roger advising me that today wasn't a good day to ride to work. But, even if he had implored me to not bike in today, I am currently in a manic phase, so I needed to go with the flow, afternoon heat be damned!

Ride to work was fun. If only everyday could be just the downhill part. The trip home is predicted to be around 100.

Biking 32:00 [1] 6.2 mi (5:10 / mi)

Ride home - 98 F. Made a concentrated effort to drink water all day - threw back 100 oz in addition to 36 oz of diet coke. A pretty good headwind most of the way home, though for once, I am not complaining.

Was pretty sure that I wouldn't make it up the hill at the end (or even any of the hills) and would have to take the walk of shame, but I managed to get up the Chesterfield hill, albeit with a break halfway to let my heart rate get back to normal.

Full PT session with Mike.

Biking 1:02:00 [1] 13.2 mi (4:42 / mi)

With graduation ceremonies at the school today, it made more sense to ride in to work. I added the additional loop out to the Hump Back Bridge and back to just about double the distance. Felt pretty darn good.
3 PM

Biking 27:00 [1] 5.53 mi (4:53 / mi)

Ride home to the bottom of the hill. A wee bit warm.

Misc (Dinwiddie hill) 5:00 [1] 0.7 mi (7:08 / mi)

A bit of a struggle compared to yesterday, but that was to be expected.

Biking 1:00:00 [1] 13.0 mi (4:37 / mi)
weight:198lbs shoes: Bike Sandals

Day started at the central office with payroll processing after dropping car off for oil change. So hard to start the day with the best sleep of the "night" being from 630-730 AM. Off to my office after that, with the rainy morning scuttling my original plan of riding to work.

After work and a rest period with Roger, I went for a ride, being unexpectedly motivated to get a workout in. Yeah!

Overcast and just about 70 F. Making the ride even more pleasant was lighter trail traffic probably attributed to less people riding in this morning. Down to Hump Back Bridge and back. I felt really strong and even got up the Dinwiddie Street hill in the middle ring.

Boo! for the poison ivy on my left arm. No more yard work for me! Weird presentation. Upper arm looks like a bite with smooth red area surrounding an open sore which is hard in the center. Lower arm looks like measles.

Weigh in - at this rate, in 101 days, I will weigh 400 pounds.

9 PM

Misc (PT) 1 [0]

Couldn't log until I got this one done - 8 solid PT sessions in a row. Foot still hurts but hip is looser.
