Orienteering (Greenbelt - Yellow) 39:17 [2] *** 2.56 mi (15:22 / mi) +99m 13:43 / mi

Decided to see if the body could handle two days of O in a row, so I went to Greenbelt and ran the Yellow from the February meet which I was too broken to participate in.

Challenging course for Yellow. Enjoyed myself. And, I was happy to take advantage of the cooler weather today vs. yesterday.

After planting some stuff that Roger ordered, I drove to the car dealer and dropped off car for service appointment.

Rode bike to metro - 2 miles on the road. Almost got side swiped by a car which decided that it HAD to be in the same lane as I was, and there was no shoulder. Assho;e 1!

Metro to Nat'l Airport

Nat'l Airport to home - 5 miles mostly on the bike trail. Had a little problem figuring out how to pick up the trail from the airport. Another car almost clobbered me in the crosswalk. Assho;e 2!

What a beautiful day, assho;es aside.

Had to walk up the hill to the house. Didn't even want to attempt it on the bike today.

New map, old semi-broken me, so I went with Yellow again. With temps in the 70s, there was another higher then expected turnout - 150 starts, 222 participants.

I started out late after working epunching, and with the bathroom a quarter of a mile away, but in the direction of the 1st and 2nd control, I decided to make a stop after getting the first control. Even with a full bladder, I had the 4th best split to 1, and only dropped as low as 12th for the bathroom stop split. I think I could win both beer splits and potty break splits as well. Moved into 2nd at #7 and finally took the lead at 9 for the win.

Hot (mid 70s and very sunny), and feeling a bit underwatered and underfed, to start out. But I was happy to do a second day in a row. I kicked a big stone up into my left ankle, and that is a bit bruised and swollen now. Otherwise, I am feeling pretty good. We'll see if that holds true for tomorrow.

Wow, my lungs felt really good doing this. Granted it wasn't blazing fast or anything, but super encouraging. Naprosyn is kicking in fast and body parts are barking much less at me already.

39 minutes of stretching and strengthening. Threw in 60 crunches to try to get the big gut smaller. It is going to take a lot more then crunches!

Note

Got Roger off to Italy today. Twenty-four hours later, the news is not so hot for him - his luggage didn't even make it to Newark from Dulles, much less to Rome. His credit card was declined the second time he tried to use it. Luckily, the big purchase - the rental car went through. He has my beloved ipad with him but can't figure out how to sign on to the wi-fi. Hopefully, Saturday will be a better day for him, and me who is suffering through all of this from afar ;).

Took leave today to go to PT and my annual physical. Back of right heel has really hurt the last three days, and I have been pretty discouraged. Messed around this morning with computer stuff, ignoring the desire to run, but then things loosen up, so I decided to try for a run before PT.

2 minutes warmup and 515 more after the "run" described below.

Had no real plan for how much I could run, and wasn't really too optomistic. Started at 5 mph, and my lungs were happy with this, so I knocked out 10 minutes, and then 10 more, and then 10 more after that (last 6 were a minute at 5.1 5.2 5.3 5.4 5.5 6.6 mph), all in a row. So, 30 minutes of running. WooHoo.

Misc (PT with Mike) 1 [0]

A quick shower and then to PT with Mike. Heat and stimulation stuff, massage, stretching, strength, ultrasound, and then ice.

Painful foot after the heat, but Mike used his magic fingers on me, and it was better again after that.

On to my physical after PT, and that went pretty well, with the things that need to be fixed being the obvious one - eat better to counteract the recent spike in cholesterol, and lose weight.

Am going to try 1-2 months of naprosyn to see if that helps things along.
