Note

Race timing: EX2 Off Road Duathlon at Fountainhead

Replaced Vista with 7 on my computes. Testing didn't bring to light a crucial fact that I couldn't access the event on the client. Luckily, the event today had only 120 people, so I abandoned Tyler to soldier on without the usual assistant on the second computer and went to the QOC meet.

O Training (Lake Needwood) 1:06:55 [2] *** 3.41 mi (19:37 / mi)
shoes: Pink Ice Bugs #2

Lots of silly things factored into this not being a very good day for me. I should have stuck with the original plan which was, when I got to the park, I was supposed to go right out. But, instead, I inserted myself where I wasn't needed and didn't allow myself much time to get back to relieve Heidi (not that she would have cared, but I cared).

Then, I got to the top of the hill to the first control, having followed the Green runner ahead of me, and stood there looking around stupidly - 25/26 to the first control.

Between 1 & 2, I feel hard and whacked my right knee. It hurt only for a moment, but it is very painful now 7 hours later.

Took some poor route choices for the rest of the controls, and when I got to the road, after starting to 12, I decided that I didn't want to play anymore and headed back.

Felt really cranky the rest of the day, and was happy to take it out on a person who was 1.25 hours late, and is chronically late. Said she didn't head back sooner because she still saw checkpoints out in the woods, so she figured she might as well continue.

Between whoa is me, and this person, I was a little bitchy. Tomorrow is another day.

Trail Run (Great Falls MD) 1:07:00 [2] 5.4 mi (12:24 / mi) +190m 11:11 / mi
shoes: Pink Ice Bugs #2

After dropping off the maps for tomorrow at the Lennons, I drove down to the bottom of Great Falls Road and parked. Goal was to run a bunch of the first 20-25 minutes, and then fill in the rest to make an hour or so on my feet.

Nice that the first part was downhill, and the weather was so beautiful - 55 F when I started. Carried a map and compass and read the terrain features as I went along.

Very enjoyable outing.

Running 20:21 [2] 2.0 mi (10:10 / mi)
weight:180lbs shoes: NB 1064 Blue

Pleasant enough in the shade and with a light breeze, even at ~85 F.

Extended the streak - 20 minutes running without stopping. Helps to go down the hill near the beginning. Next goal is to add a couple of minutes to the run part.

Walking 20:05 [1] 1.34 mi (14:59 / mi)
shoes: NB 1064 Blue

Walked a little extra today.

Biking (Commute in) 34:49 [1] 7.02 mi (4:58 / mi) +18m 4:55 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

Pleasant morning to ride to work.
3 PM

Biking (Commute home) 36:44 [1] 7.03 mi (5:14 / mi) +65m 5:05 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

Headwinds were a bit tough as was the hill, but very pleased with the two rides today. Looked at an alternate to the 1.5 miles through the neighborhood leaving work. I think when the construction is done in the Potomac Yard residential area, this will be a decent alternative. [Edit: this may not be done until 2016!! :)]

Body parts feel good.

Running 19:47 [2] 2.0 mi (9:53 / mi)
shoes: NB 1064 Blue

A lazy day at home. Finally got dressed at 5 PM and went for a run to try to keep up the every other day routine.

Lovely out at 80 F and lowish humidity. First mile which included a long downhill was 9:23 and second all flat mile was 10:24. A bit asthmatic run which hurt more then I like to get deep breaths, but I think ease up asaround as I get back into shape.

Walking 10:16 [1] 0.68 mi (15:06 / mi)
shoes: NB 1064 Blue

Walk up the hill back to the house.

Iced my heels this evening.

Lower legs are sore as well, but a good sore. No hamstring pain at all. Yeah!
