Biking 1:47:00 [2] 20.29 mi (5:16 / mi) +114m 5:11 / mi
shoes: Shimano Bike

Goal was 20 miles. Got a later start then I could have/should have, especially since I had basically been wide awake since midnight. Almost wiped out on some sand at the bottom of the hill when I have to make a tight turn to get on the bike path. Hmm, maybe this was a sign that I shouldn't be riding today? Luckily, it was the only incident of the day.

Headed to the Mount Vernon path to ride along the Potomac River, turning around before hitting Old Town streets. Just as well that this was the plan since a road race was finishing up, and the streets were packed.

Back the other way to the Humpback Bridge. Though there is sill a 40' bottleneck where part of the new path is unfinished, the rest of the trip over the bridge is now wide enough to hold two-way traffic, so I decided to go to the DC line before turning around.

Back the way I came and staggered up the hill home, taking the hill in chunks.

Temps were in the mid 50s and cloudy, which was fine with me. However, the winds were pretty stiff in two directions, and I felt like I was just plodding along at time.

Lunch out with Roger, and then a nice nap.

Misc (THE DVD!) 40:00 [2]

Watching the boob tube, so I figured I may as well do this at the same time. Had to modify the planks since my shoeless feet kept slipping on the carpet. Too lazy to track down shoes, to stupid to take my socks off. :)

O Training (PWNF PC 4) 1:37:00 [2] *** 5.23 mi (18:33 / mi) +163m 16:55 / mi
weight:173lbs shoes: Pink!! Ice Bugs

Volunteered from 7-10 AM at the VHTRC BRR 50 mile trail run. For the last X years beside last year, I was the main person - 5 AM-9PM. Just too long of a day for me anymore. So, this year, I made sure the new results person was set up and then bailed out as planned during the first time the runners came through the S/F area (about 17 miles of 50 miles).

Drove to PWNF and worked on the last eight permanent control locations, including one both Greg and I had failed on previously. Saved that one to last and found it eventually. However, I was unable to find another one which had an ambiguous control location between the coordinates and what was drawn on the 1:20k 20 year old map. I may try again tomorrow, while incorporating a pass by into my trail run loop, or not. Current count is 59/60. Great project so far since it has "forced" me out of the door when I may have vegged out otherwise.

And, with my bonus time for today, I enjoyed a nap and dinner with Roger, neither of which are out of the ordinary, but still appreciated having the time to do both.

And, a Lailah update - at 2 months, she has proven to be quite precocious...she has mastered the sneer, or maybe that is the international sign of a poopie diaper.

She is still working on the whole smiling thing, though she is almost there!!

Biking (Commute in) 28:00 [1] 5.8 mi (4:50 / mi)
shoes: Bike Sandals

WooHoo! I rode to work today, which means I also get to ride home. Yeah!
3 PM

Biking 1:15:00 [2] 15.03 mi (4:59 / mi) +128m 4:52 / mi
weight:172lbs shoes: Bike Sandals

The ride home, and it was so lovely! Left work a different way to go by the post office and then dropped down to the trail along the Potomac River. Moving and feeling well, and outside on a beautiful day. I didn't even let the hill up top to the house mess with my head. It can't get much better then that.

My bike goal for the next five months is to increase my long ride by 15 miles a month. So, I am calling this one the base for April, and by the end of the month, I will have done at least one 30 miler. April 30, May 45, June 60, July 75, August 12 100.

Since I was going to have to take a shower anyway, I got this done as well. Double yeah!

Backlogging for the weekend is done.

I am declaring that two off days are enough, and I demand that I get a training session in today! Must fight off the post event funk.

And, since there hasn't been a picture of Sarah with Lailah, here is one.

Walking 1:02:07 [2] 4.28 mi (14:32 / mi) +121m 13:21 / mi
shoes: Ice Bugs - Green

Marched around the hood in my hiking books and shorts on a lovely April late afternoon. Things felt good that I even threw two extras hills in for good measure.

Workout almost derailed but I got back on track and got it done. WooHoo!

Mowing/Yard (Weeding) 1 [0]

A preplanned day off. Worked a couple hours in the yard this afternoon with Roger. It was a beautiful day in the high 70s.

Legs are a bit sore, and the top of the right shoulder has a softball size bruise on it. I remember hitting it a second time, but not the first time. I guess I was in the zone.
