Note

Race timing: EX2 5/10 miler at Wakefield

This went well today, though I was anxious since this is the fastest of the 5/10 mile courses, and the field is the largest. Crack team of volunteers - piece of cake!

Orienteering (Pohick - Camp Wilson) 1:03:07 [0] *** 5.0 km (12:37 / km) +115m 11:19 / km
shoes: Pink!! Ice Bugs

Actual distance was 4 miles with 160 m climb. Long White course was all I could mentally handle today.

Brain fart from 3-4, but otherwise happy with this effort.

weight:178lbs

Weight got as low as 175 this week, though I am not surprised that it was back up to 178. Seems to be exactly four weeks from the last spike. Pre-M symptoms without the M.

More permanent controls. Pulled over leaving the park since I was speeding. Fortunate to just get a verbal warning.

Half a Large Super Supreme Pan pizza is not low in calories, but it was excellent for moral, as least at the time.

Walking (GW paved loop) 1:00:00 [1] 4.25 mi (14:07 / mi)
weight:176lbs shoes: Z Hiking Boots

Walking again in case I don't do anything tomorrow. Took it easier today. Didn't record the first mile since it was included in the walk from the front of the building, and I didn't have my FR since I didn't expect to do this today. Miles 2-4 were 1355 1352 1347. Wind blowing from the side.

Slept pretty well for the second night in a row, though I still was very groggy when I got up. Sort of like a hangover from alcohol and/or sleep aid, neither of which I have had the last two nights.

Misc 40:00 [2]

Got this done as well since I haven't done it in a week. Felt good.

Then had a lovely early dinner with Stacy and April and their beautiful little daughter Eleanor Adele (Ella).

Walking (GW paved "track") 1:00:00 [1] 4.5 mi (13:20 / mi)
weight:176lbs shoes: Z Hiking Boots

Probably was the best day to ride to work, but I was pretty groggy and stiff, so I opted out. Instead walked around the paved track at lunchtime. Loosen up and set a pretty good pace. Miles were 1410 1317 1251 1255 1318 (mile pace for last half mile).

Tentative plan for rest of week:
Wednesday: Core DVD, emissions inspection?, dinner at April/Stacey
Thursday: run, haircut, annual physical
Friday: bike, groceries, pickup prescriptions
Saturday: O training (get the rest of the permanent controls at PWNF), print maps, get equipment ready for Sunday (EX2 & QOC)
Sunday: Long White at Pohick after race timing at Wakefield

Sandy took the first day of her spring break and came to do some training in PWNF with me. She did all of the navigating while we went to locations that I had already visited in the last month. Took a little longer then I had hoped for though not longer then expected at this point in the training schedule. Hoping we can shave a bit of time off of the overall time in the next couple of months.

Wind was blowing pretty hard, but it was beautiful in the woods. Some yucky green parts, especially between 13 & 14, and lots of times across creeks. I kept dry until and then I got both feet wet, so I mostly didn't care after that.

It was a good session, and I was pleased that I felt pretty good throughout. Dropping a few pounds has helped. Hamstrings are cramping up this evening, but I should be good to go tomorrow.

Thanks to Sandy for guiding us around so capably.
