Sandy took the first day of her spring break and came to do some training in PWNF with me. She did all of the navigating while we went to locations that I had already visited in the last month. Took a little longer then I had hoped for though not longer then expected at this point in the training schedule. Hoping we can shave a bit of time off of the overall time in the next couple of months.

Wind was blowing pretty hard, but it was beautiful in the woods. Some yucky green parts, especially between 13 & 14, and lots of times across creeks. I kept dry until and then I got both feet wet, so I mostly didn't care after that.

It was a good session, and I was pleased that I felt pretty good throughout. Dropping a few pounds has helped. Hamstrings are cramping up this evening, but I should be good to go tomorrow.

Thanks to Sandy for guiding us around so capably.

Worked a trail race (paid) and then the QOC meet after. Rained on and off all day, and I decided I didn't feel like getting wet, so I passed on doing a course.

Then at the end, after all was packed up, I went in search of a misplaced control. It was only used on the extra long white course, which only 1 group attempted, so I was figuring they didn't know what they were doing. But, after, Sam didn't find it during control pickup, I figured I would look in the next obvious place. I drove around and parked as close as possible, kind of skirted around some private property and went in, and there it was 150 meters away at a different intersection. Got soaking wet in the process, but at least I got the control. To add insult to injury, I picked a tick off of my hand on the way home, picked up during my 10 minute excursion into the woods. Or, perhaps, during the last two days at PWF, and it was waiting in the car for me. Either way, tick season has arrived. I am not imagining everything little itch is a tick. Yeah!

More permanent controls at Prince William. Only had issues with one of them which is the one I knew I was in over my head on. Went back with new info and found the one I missed yesterday and two of the ones that Greg missed.

Felt good throughout. Very pleased to be out early on this lovely day. Too bad the early hour was partly due to a third night in a row with only 2-3 hours of sleep. Hope it doesn't catch up with me tomorrow during race timing.

Neck extremely stiff and painful this morning at 4 AM, which is when I gave up and started answering emails.

Two more controls to make 40/60 for the weekend.

After, I drove out to Fair Oaks to meet Roger for lunch.

I had to give blood for my physical this morning, so I took the whole day off. After a couple of errands, I went to PWNF with a plan to check permanent control locations. Stopped in the Visitor's Center for a new yearly pass and to verify some of the circles. Then I headed up to Turkey Run parking lot.

Found 22/24 locations easily, and the 23rd after some thinking about where the post might actually be. Didn't find the 24th, but I looked at the map in the VC again on the way out, and I think I can find it on the other side of the gully then the side I was on.

It was a beautiful day, and I am very happy with my navigation today, though I was in the easier area, but still...I hope tomorrow goes just as well.

I have slept very poorly the last two nights, getting maybe 2 hours of sleep each night. Today my neck is stiff, most likely a combination of core dvd, pushups, and holding on for dear life while riding the bike in 15 mph winds the other day, so I will pass on the pushups today.

Trail Run (Behind work) 1:01:17 [2] 5.57 mi (11:00 / mi) +1m 11:00 / mi
weight:178lbs shoes: Pink!! Ice Bugs

Back and forth on the .6 mile unpaved road behind work. Winds less then last week at about 5 mph made this a little easier, though I didn't actually run as much, walking some as well. My virtual training partner was set on 11:15 per mile. I have never actually used this, but it seemed like I could average that for today, so I ran, got some cushion, walked, and then ran again when I was going to get behind again. It was sort of fun, and I finished a teeny bit ahead.

Biking (Commute in) 28:00 [2] 5.8 mi (4:50 / mi)
weight:179lbs shoes: Shimano Bike

Not the classic commute in. Riding in with wet hair in 35 F windy conditions didn't seem like a good idea, so I swung home at lunchtime and rode in then. Windier, which is going to kick in a little more by the time I ride home. Ah, well, it is good for me, and I have met the bike goal for the week.
