weight:181lbs

After a very restful sleep (yeah!) I got up planning to get a 2.5 hour ride in before brunch with Roger and his friends. I was hoping to burn lots of calories...

I knew that I could handle the 31 F, but as I ate breakfast, I was less convinced that I would be happy with the 8-10 mph gusty winds. So, I crawled back into bed and woke up three hours later, just in time to shower and leave.

I wore my new pants, bought seven weeks ago, one size smaller. They just fit, with a little muffin top. Hopefully, this will keep me from stuffing myself too much in a quest to "get my money's worth" at the buffet tables. Thankfully, the $50 per person is being paid by our hosts. My plan is lots of salad and small portions of other stuff, and to eat slowly. And, I am not allowed to open the top button!

Ironically, I never last as long as the three guys at these get togethers anyway, getting bored with the eating and the conversation. So, this one could be especially "fun." I brought a book. ;)

Round and round as fast as she can, you can't catch me, blah, blah, blah.

After a long nap with Roger, only Roger, I snapped the light on the bike and went many laps around the neighborhood loop, throwing a few variations in every so often. The biggest hill today was 6'.

I tried to stretch it to an hour, but the sun was gone early, and it was getting chilly.

Tummy still full. Calories for lunch work out to about 1850.

The FR says I burned 743 calories on the bike. Loseit says 395 for 10-11.9 mph and 553 for 12-13.9 mph. I guess I will go for something in between.

O Training (GFVA) 1:06:00 [2] *** 3.08 mi (21:26 / mi) +142m 18:45 / mi
weight:181lbs shoes: Pink!! Ice Bugs

Straight line was 4.1 km. Total time was 1:36.

At Heidi's instigation, Peggy set a compass exercise at Great Falls, VA. Sadly, Heidi, and Kathleen weren't able to make it (we missed them, as well as kissy), but Dagmar was able to join us this time, giving us a span of ages from 40-50+ today.

I was a little anxious starting out since I had forgotten to use or bring my inhaler, but once I made up the first hill, I knew I would be just fine without it.

Peggy set a course that we navigated around by compass only. Start to 1 we did together. After that we took staggered starts taking turns rotating the order we started in, letting the others get out of sight before starting ourselves. Very pleased with my efforts overall, though there was a bit of remedial instruction required at one point, like how to orient the map. Ooops. Legs 5-6, 7-8, 10-11, 13-F were turning legs and done as a group.

It was quite calm and lovely in the woods. Thanks to Peggy for setting up the training. I may have just stayed in bed reading and listening to the wind howling in the trees otherwise.

Biking (Commute in) 36:00 [2] 6.53 mi (5:31 / mi) +14m 5:29 / mi
weight:181lbs shoes: Bike Sandals

Another great forecast, so I got my things together last night, and it was an easy choice to ride in today.

Usual route except for a mile round trip detour on a dirt path that I thought in the right direction to work and would avoid some of the road portion. It looked like there was an outlet on the other end, but it looked closed, so I backtracked. Probably wouldn't do it again anyway since it was not paved and also was a bit isolated.

An enjoyable way to start the day.

Knocked out the core while I was still warmed up.

Biking 32:30 [2] 5.76 mi (5:39 / mi) +62m 5:28 / mi

Headwind was brutal! Walked partway up the hill to the house, and then wobbled on my bike the rest of the way.

At the office during "lunch" while wearing jeans, since I forgot my shorts.

Picked up my BP meds today which reminded me that I hadn't had it checked in a while. BP taken by the nurse at school: 130/82 and at home 122/79.

February - 70 F - bike ride after work. Big smile on face, between breathing hard, as I went out to East Falls Church and back.

Walking 6:15 [1] 0.35 mi (17:52 / mi) +28m 14:18 / mi

Had to walk the bike up the hill home. I was just worn out enough that I didn't want to lose it trying to go up the hill and then fall over clipped in.

Trail Run 59:44 [2] 5.03 mi (11:53 / mi) +7m 11:49 / mi
weight:183lbs shoes: Pink!! Ice Bugs

Back and forth on the unpaved road behind work. It was now dry with just a few rutted areas of bike and dog prints, but not hard to work around the worst parts.

Temps were 56 F with a pretty strong wind. So, I ran with the wind and walked back against the wind. Wanted to keep the average pace at 5 mph, which I did. Felt strong running, though I tempered my enthusiasm with the reminder that the wind was helping. The running pace was 1003 931 935 and 955 for .57 miles.

A little boring, except for watching the trains go by. But, since I don't waste any time getting to where I am going to run on a "trail", or running on pavement at home, I can live with a little boring.

Walking (School) 1:00:00 [1] 4.3 mi (13:57 / mi)
weight:184lbs

Another crappy night of sleep. I don't feel like I ever fell asleep. So despite feeling crappier then yesterday, I struggled into work. Hoping lots of exercise and a glass of wine of dinner will help me fall asleep tonight.

Around and around the paved loop at work, since that way I was only into the wind part of the time versus a two mile out and back.

Laps were 330 330 329 327 327 326 325 321 322 321 326 323 320 320 321 325.

Misc (The DVD) 40:00 [2]

Several hours after work, I did a core workout as well. Felt good.
