Note

Race Timing: EX2 BYB - Hemlock Canceled.

Orienteering (Rosaryville Blue) 2:32:50 [3] *** 11.0 km (13:54 / km) +200m 12:44 / km
shoes: 8 Orange

Map Distance covered was 9 miles.

Race timing was canceled this morning, and with the first shift of epunching already sorted out, I decided to run a course early, and heck, why not Blue?!

Rosaryville is more about route choice then difficult control locations, so I tried to settle on a route, and not keep changing my mind - a general fault of mine. Now, my routes didn't take climb into consideration, so I considered whatever climb I ended up doing as an excuse to ease off a little. :) With 11 controls in 11km, there were some LONG legs! I tried to keep moving quickly on the down and flats, and I enjoyed slopping through the water and minor muddy conditions. No trails were truly flooded, with about ankle deep the highest I went through. There were also no difficult stream crossings.

Worked epunching after, and though I waited until the last person was in, and I also helped assign the control pickup, I left before any of the controls were back. I also have a volunteer for processing the QOC results.

Misc (Moving boxes) 10:00 [1]

Can't actually say that I slept better last night, but at least my cold was better, so that was good. Moving more boxes today, of course. Sent ~200 to the incinerator (shredding--->recycle is too expensive, so at least the incinerator is generating power).

Then moved more boxes into the incinerator staging area. Gave shoulders a break today and did not take any boxes off the top shelf. Will finish those tomorrow.

I am sore, especially my right hip, but I am enjoying the exercise.

Feeling more optimistic, more so if they come up with about 64K to alleviate the backlog of student records which need to be scanned. If so, then I need to get 650 boxes pulled for a April 5 pickup. I can do it!!

Tangerine paint has been approved for my actual office (will not truly celebrate until I see it on the walls). Though, my vision of having Tangerine walls throughout was quashed. Walls will be white in the records area. Logic is that a standard wall cover is easier to touch up, well, except they hadn't touched up the walls in my current location in 15+ years.

Office moving company was in yesterday to do an estimate. Hey, by the time I am done, they may be getting a good deal on their bid. There may be 1/3 less boxes to move then what they bid on moving.

So, I am feeling less overwhelmed today. Hopefully, that is a little obvious. I hate being a sad sack.

Note

Enjoying the view outside the bay window this evening around 5:15.
The cardinals (4-8 males) were doing their usual show. I never tire of it. And the big red headed woodpecker swooped in for a shelled nut. Then a big blue jay followed by a few of the female cardinals - less aggressive then the other birds. The underdogs in our yard.
Then, a gorgeous red fox sauntered into the yard, toping them all for a short period. Full coat, no mange in sight. Very nice.

Misc (Moving boxes) 10:00 [1]

OK, the number of boxes I moved today, and the number of times up and down the ladder with said boxes deserves some props.

Some background: I am the records management specialist (records manager is easier) for a small school system in Virginia near Washington, DC. We have 1-2 high schools, 2 middle schools, and 16? elementary schools. Boxes of old records come to me. This includes student records, personal records, school board, facilities, financial, etc. records. There are about 3000 boxes.

When I started this job in 1990, I was 32, and I could throw boxes around all day with ease. A couple of years later, I was moved from my first place to the current location which was an abandoned locker room in a current elementary school. Now, I am being moved to a middle school basement.

Once I fight off the hormonal demons which have been plaguing me, I plan to embrace my new space, even if it is three miles further from home (I am spoiled with my current 1.5 mile commute), smaller (will use the opportunity to get rid of some records which I should have trashed ages ago), and separated into four different rooms (just means my excellent organizational skills will be utilized on a more regular basis).

There is a window in my new office, as well as two or three windows in the large area. It also appears that I to get to pick the paint color. I went with Tangerine.

Note

OK, I did push the spreader over the lawn to put down some concoction that Roger wanted applied for crabgrass. Though, I may have to admit I am sick, as I just sat here and did a numerous amount of monster sneezes, and the tissue pile is piling up, and I feel like crap.

I really meant to run today, even if it was just the mile down the hill at work, and then walking back. I even took my stuff to work, but things continue to pile up - computer virus which took over my log in, and a laser printer which was creating smeared envelopes. Of course, I didn't check until after I had printed the ones I needed to get to the mail room within the hour. The same hour that the tech came and cleaned up my computer. So, the mail didn't go out today. Chalk it up to technical difficulties.

I cried and/or sobbed three times today. Just move me. I know it isn't all about me, but I wish I had some control. Hopefully, if I am being regulated to the furthest point from the Central Office, which is where I really belong, I will at least get my cable drop. ;)

And, there is a window.

Oh, and a route choice for the four miles on the bike that doesn't involve a four mile uphill route home. So, I could bomb down the hill on the way to work, and go around on the way home. I predict that I will ride to work, um, once in the next month (to either my current location, or my new location).

Whatever. No poetry tonight.
