Misc (Snow Shoveling) 30:00 [2]

Two more sessions, actually more like 2.5 sessions. Out early with Roger. Well, early for me at 8:30 AM. Roger had been out a couple of hours before I even got up. We have our house and three elderly neighbors who we take care of as well. I finished up of these and then tackled the cars, including my aunt's who will return from Africa tomorrow.

While we were out, the plow came through twice. The first plow was sitting up the street for about 45 minutes because he had to file an accident report for scraping someone's car, then he came down and put a ton of heavy stuff next to my aunt's car, and then another one came by and put a load alongside our cars. Not complaining though, since the street is down to blacktop.

After finishing out front, I shoveled a path on the deck. Really surprised how much better that made me feel to look out the backdoor and see a path. Also uncovered the fishpond.

A little later, another smaller plow came through, so out again to clean up (the half session - shorter, but very heavy).

After lunch and a nap, the neighbor who works for Metro came home (mechanic, I think). He has been working since before the storm with just a few short breaks. Looking pathetic with a bent shovel and a weeny family (teenage girl and boy), I went over with two good shovels and helped get his sidewalk and parking spot shoveled out. I figured that it was the least I could do for someone who has been working through this mess.

Anyway, it was a very good day with some quality time outdoors, some with my spouse, as well as pleasant weather. The only thing which would have made it better is if the school system wasn't going to charge me leave for the last 4 days. But then I remember that there are plenty of hourly workers who can less afford being off of work who are probably out some important money this week. At least I have leave to take, and despite the energetic shoveling, I can probably claim sick leave with a semi-clear conscience. Yes, another upper respiratory infection and no voice, except here in writing.

Note

A recent email made me reflect on some things, and one of those was why I can't seem to sew anymore. So, I put aside the computers and the two software programs I am supposed to be testing and decided to do a little sewing. Sewed the binding onto this baby quilt, though the original baby will never see it since I think he is about five years old now.

After that, I "made" a no-sew fleece blanket - Neon O'range on one side and moose on the other. A project looking for a good home...

Misc (Snow Shoveling) 20:00 [2]

Shoveled out my aunt's car today, despite being told by my mother, her sister, to leave it for my aunt to shovel out. Yeah, right. More snow with high winds coming tomorrow.
