Event: QOC Manassas

Running (paved) 19:38 [3] 1.62 mi (12:07 / mi)
shoes: 8 Orange

Slept a little better last night, especially considering I wasn't sleeping in my own bed...I miss my bed, and my two pillows which I didn't bring...

Made a plan last night, and got my stuff organized, to go and run on the trails at Scott County Park. Asked for a 7 AM wake up call, which didn't arrive, but I got up anyway, ate, dressed, out the door and at the park a little before 8 AM.

Temps near 50, so shorts all the way around. Wore my inov8 O shoes and the new ankle things which Cristina recommended. I knew that the left one may be an issue since I may be in between sizes, and with the plan being to be out for ~2 hours, I tested it with a short run down the road and back to the car (.84 in 1019). Took off both ankle thingees and ran back down the road to find a trail (.78 in 919).

Trail Run (unpaved) 1:53:00 [2] 8.36 mi (13:31 / mi)
shoes: 8 Orange

Ran around the bike/horse trails after a little bit of off trail exploration on the wrong side of the park road. Sign coming into the park said that bike and horse trails were closed, so maybe I shouldn't have been on them. I did not see another person the whole time, though I did see lots of deer.

The conditions were great for trail running with very little mud. Trail was very single track and had lots up little ups and downs, twists and turns, to keep it interesting.

The family made me wear my orange shirt just in case there was hunting happening on the edge of the park.

Having just eaten a big lunch, and with someone already inquiring about dinner, I am glad I got this in. Actually, Roger is off to Culvers for blizzard like concoction, so I will shortly be eating more junk. No self control, so I will try to keep exercise to counterbalance the eating frenzy.

Walking 7:30 [1] 0.44 mi (17:03 / mi)
shoes: 8 Orange

Walked back up the hill to the car.

Flight from DC to Moline was painless, well except for the whole 4:45 AM departure from the house. I arrived via Detroit at 9:20 AM.

I got to go grocery shopping with Roger and his mother when I got here. Then, our first meal, which I had every intention of letting settle and then getting a little run in after.

But, after only about 2.5 hours of sleep last night, on top of about the same the two nights before, I had a nap which I couldn't wake up from. Finally, I roused myself long enough to go out and eat another meal. Ugh, given my known lack of self control, I always feel full when I am here. I did have just soup and salad for dinner, and no alcohol.

Running 41:00 [2] 4.03 mi (10:10 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1223

Temps just at 60 F with a light mist. Changed and got out the door at 4 PM - late to work, early to leave - that's the life.

From home to Wakefield, Dinwiddie, Walter Reed, bike bath through park, which was pretty deserted, so I opted for the W&OD along the street coming back. Took the W&OD to the terminus in Shirlington then over to the Four Mile Run Trail back to Walter Reed.

Walked for 2 minutes at 1.5 miles, then ran the last 2.5 miles without stopping, thanks to some well timed traffic lights and some courteous drivers who yielded me the right away when I had the walk sign. I think the bright orange shirt helped as well.

This afternoon around 2, I was having problems breathing, and I had a rattle in my lungs. I couldn't get a deep enough cough going to clear my lungs with out PeeinG my pants, so I used the inhaler. This helped me cough then, but I also noticed that my lungs were NOT sore at all during the run two hours later. Perhaps I need to use the inhaler a longer time before I run.

Walking 18:52 [1] 1.2 mi (15:43 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1223

2 minute walk during run, and a mile after I was done running.

Thanks to Sandy A for the idea...I think I will have french toast for dinner. Eggs = protein, right?

Note

So, Roger flew off to Iowa today to visit his family. I follow on Saturday.

My usual routine would have had me crawl into bed with a bag of candy when I got home at 4 PM, and then pretty much roost there, save for a foray or two or three for food and drink.

But, in the spirit of the funk buster plan, I resisted. I not only resisted, I went out and raked leaves for an hour! I know this doesn't sound like much, but it was monumental to me, at least. I also had a real dinner - well, it was real a couple of nights ago, whereas tonight, it was leftovers. But, it wasn't grapes and peanut butter crackers, my usual fare when I have to fend for myself. I actually heated something up in the microwave.

OK, I have to admit that, right now, I am indulging in the aforementioned bag of candy (mini reese's pb cups). Baby steps.

Note

OK, second note for the day...I am missing some stuff - for sure, I can't find my FR205, with the sad part being that it is my spare FR205. I have two, as well as a 405. But, it is driving me nuts that I can't keep track of my stuff.

Along the same line, I am missing a pair of my new O pants, or at least I think I am...
