Biking (W&OD) 1:52:00 [2] 20.0 mi (5:36 / mi)

Sleet and light ice overnight, so I waited until the pavement was dry before getting out about 1:15 PM. I did not do too much heavy thinking beforehand, so I didn't talk myself out of going.
It was around 40 with a "feels like" of 32 F. Dressed in new bike tights, long sleeve tight UA shirt, short sleeve shirt, jacket, headband, gloves, two pairs of socks and took my light vest.
Out in 60 minutes for 9.8 miles, and return was 52 minutes for 10.2 miles. I was extremely happy that the wind had not turned on me, and the slight downhill return made for a zippy trip even with the long uphill to the house back into the wind factored in.
Wind was brutal in my face going out, but still I was too warm on top. When I unzipped the jacket some, it got full of air and made things worse - pedaling hard but not going forward. So, I stopped halfway out and switched to my vest.
Toes were frozen, so I need to figure that out. OK for the shorter rides to work, but not for the longer rides I would like to try to do over the next few months.
This was my longest outing with my new Ergon grips which Bash recommended after I whined about my hands falling asleep. They seem to be pretty comfortable.
[Note: Novara bike tights - do not like them at all. The XL woman they modeled them for must be 5'4" with a short waist and very fat ankles. The padding is weak, and the purported higher waist in the back gave me ventilation in a place that I prefer not to ventilate. I may just have to be "brave" enough to return them to R** and get another of the Pearl I tights which have better coverage over the butt, longer legs, a tighter fitting around the ankle, and a drawstring in the waist. ]
