Trail Run (Some trail @ P&G) 28:23 [3] 2.4 mi (11:50 / mi)
shoes: Salomom XT Wings 10

Peter got home from his bike ride to find that Sandy and I had just arrived, and I wanted to take a short run, and I wanted a guide. Gave Peter a moment to change his shoes and shorts and we were off up the hill, up to Gunn Road and back. The mixed oak and hemlock is just beautiful this time of year as the leaves come down, plus the late afternoon light, a very pleasant outing with very fine company!

Afterwards, we all drove up to the top of South Sugarloaf to check out the sights. I would have run up, but I didn't want to wear out Peter anymore than I had already. ;)

Actually...our run took about 17 minutes up and 11 minutes to come back. My lungs were killing me, and it still hurts to take a deep breath 4 hours later - lack of doing almost anything of significance this last month was very telling, but I was thrilled to get out for a run with Peter the Great.

Mowing/Yard 10:00 [0]

Timing race at Wakefield Park this morning. Up at 6:45, out of house at 7:30 , home by 12:30, nap, mowed, nap. It is now 7:55 PM, and it seems like I have been up forever!

Roger has had no success with growing dahlias the way that the local dahlia society advocates. Their literature says that you nip the side branches to force one large bloom, and you should dig the bulb out each year. Well, Roger can't stand nipping the branches off since this kills off something which is living, and he has had no success over wintering the bulbs, so he leaves them in the ground and hopes for the best. When nothing comes up the next year, he buys some more. This is an example of the terrible things which happen when you leave the bulb in the ground from last year and don't nip off any of the side branches. This plant has been flowering since at least July 4, the date I took another picture of it...
