Orienteering race (PWNF Green) 1:08:27 [3] *** 5.1 km (13:25 / km)
slept:3.0 shoes: Jalas Black FLX

After working the finish/results for a 5/10 mile trail race, it was off to the O meet. Beautiful day in the woods!
Maps were being drawn today on a 1:15 map, so I cheated and printed my own at 1:10. I didn't notice that I barely fit the course on until I was ready to start. So, I had to be really careful near #8 because there was no map next to the control circle.
I did fairly well except for control 7 which we also had last night on the Brown course. I had commented then that this kind of area gets me in trouble, but Sandy lead the way, so it wasn't an issue. Today, I lost about 5 minutes on it, my only significant error. Otherwise, all the sitting outside in the cold this weekend caught and I was stiff & low on energy.
Wore my backup Jalas which I don't like very much. I think that I have gotten used to how low they are cut. I think about them too much which I am running. ANd we know I don't need distractions. :)

Orienteering race (PWF Brown Nigh-O) 1:13:33 [3] *** 3.9 km (18:52 / km)
shoes: Silva K80

Worked the a 50K race all day & then drove straight down to QOC's "Night-O" - courses designed for day, no consideration given to the dangers of the night...

After 70 miles, I drove within 2 miles of the house - I had to really fight the urge to go home instead. Earlier, I had tried to back door Sandy into waiting for me & going out together - fear of the dark taking over my mind. But we decided (me having both sides of the converstion with Sandy) that it was better if I went out myself. But with just 15 advanced runners out in the woods, we (read Sandy - really, it wasn't all me!!) decided together was better. Being brain dead from working all day, I went with the Light the way, Lead the way philosophy - I had the a good new light, Sandy had the old know how.
Enjoyed being out in the woods with Sandy except for the deep, tight, leaf filled ascent to the creek on my rear. My butt was smoking! And if it hadn't been so chilly, I would have sat it in the creek to cool it off.

Misc 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Saucony 7 - Banana 2

Last day of the session, so it was Ultimate Frisbee . Warm up lap, stretching (half heartedly), them about 30 minutes of playing. I ran up and back playing defense & trying to avoid throwing the sucker. We did about 20 minutes of various abs after one of the women called for the game to be over. She claimed it was getting too heated, & she was almost in tears.
So, the first quarter is over, and there is no BC next week for me. Yeah!!! I need the break.

Another run day. After .4 mile warm up & stretching, off for a 3 mile run. Then a variety of ab work for the last 20 minutes - on our own until everyone got back, and then each of us picked an exercise and lead the count.

Running 31:00 [2] 3.1 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Saucony 7 - Banana 1

Ran with Beth. She could have gone a bit faster, but I was struggling a bit - breathing was a little ragged this morning. I appreciated that she stayed with me.
Some nice sized hills on this route.

Brrr, the wind was COLD this morning, but we sucked it up and did the session outside, which was fine by me. Jump rope, calf raises, wall sits, sprints, squats, pulsing sqauts, raising leg to side with resistance, and 1 pushup by me just because the 200+ yesterday weren't enough.

Another excellent session though I really felt yesterday's effort in my quads. Warm up run & stretching. Then a 1 mile run. Followed by way too many pushups (extra for some of us becasue we run faster), mountain climbers, wall dips, and arm circles. My arms are killing me. Finished with another 1 mile run and them ab work.

Running 18:30 [3] 2.0 mi (9:15 / mi)
shoes: Saucony 7 - Banana 1

I think these were 9:30 and 9:00.

Running warm up/down (Treadmill) 11:00 [1] 0.7 mi (15:42 / mi)
shoes: Saucony 7 - Banana 1

6 min warm up & 5 minutes cool down.

Running (Treadmill) 1:00:00 [3] 6.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Saucony 7 - Banana 1

After warming up, I set the speed for 6 mph for a planned 60 minutes. Didn't think I would last for even 10 minutes, but it got easier after I got over the 20 minutes "breathing is hard" point. It also helped to take the HRM off. Maybe that is why I don't like to wear them - it seems to make it harder for me to breathe, even though it wasn't on terribly tight. Stayed in the high 140s while I had it on.
Tunes tonight were Andrea B's Romanza. I thought I was listening to his new album, Amore, but I wasn't. I guess I haven't listened to Romanza much because I didn't remember any of the songs...

Excellent session. And added fun because today was FREE SESSION day for people wondering if they are interested in joining or not. It is probably good that I didn't do one of these before I committed to the whole month. I remember how hard that first day in July was. The most amusing participant was a woman wearing on of those gray & black outfits with ARMY on the front. She didn't live up to the outfit...
Session was varied with jj, situps, sprints, suicide sprints, mountain climbers, pushups, triceps with the band, little running, etc. Loved it! And it was almost light when we started. Though that will change again at the end of the month.
