Orienteering race (COCC Sprint) 18:24 [4] *** 2.19 km (8:24 / km) +60m 7:23 / km

Started one minute behind Eileen B. Kept her in sight through 3 controls and finished less than 2 minutes behind. Good hard effort with only a little bobble at the end.

Orienteering race (Arnold Ice Cave) 1:11:04 [4] *** 4.09 km (17:23 / km) +70m 16:00 / km
shoes: Jalas Black FLX

Actual distance covered was 6.1 km. Well, it doesn't replace Beuna Vista in terms of sheer misery only becasue I wasn't out there 3+ hours...but a tough event in terms of conditions for me. It was so dusty/sandy!! And when it wasn't sandy underfoot, it was scrubby and rocky. Started 2 minutes behind Eileen B and caught her at 1. Found 2 first with a couple minute error and we were close at 3 & 4. May have found 5 first, and then into butterfly loops. Whew, the pressure was off and I ended up finishing about 13 minutes behind Eileen thanks in part to a 6 minute error on 14.
My throat was parched at the end - full of sand!! Our only water stop was about a third of the way through the course.

Misc warm up/down 8:00 [1] 0.5 mi (16:00 / mi)
weight:184lbs

Jog down to the track and back to meet Nancy for a run. Scale says there was too much sitting around and eating pizza and brownies at the race yesterday.

Running/Walking (BC Long Run in reverse) 51:00 [2] 4.2 mi (12:09 / mi)

Legs fresh after two days "off", so I ran Nancy a little faster than she would have liked. But she hung in there just fine. A few walking breaks, though less than Friday. Breathing excellent.

Misc (Mini Boot Camp) 5:00 [1] 0.0 mi

40 s/u, p/u, & L/L

Mowing/Yard (Mowed lawn) 5:00 [1] 0.0 mi

Worked the results of 3 mountain bike races today. Exercise consisted of running back and forth to the restroom. Was there 8+ hours. Sandy F competed and placed 2nd in the Beginner Female division.

Well, I am not on the west coast until Tuesday evening. Spent today getting some decluttering done. Foisted gobs of stuff off on my mother, and hid lots of boxes in the closet.

Running/Walking (Neighborhood) 51:00 [1] 4.1 mi (12:26 / mi)
slept:6.0

Met Nancy (from last month's Boot Camp) at 6 AM for a run. A little slower than if I were alone, but faster than what I can run in my bed.
Walked to start, then ran some and walked some as needed. Ran all the way up the hill at the end. Felt comfortable. Knees aching when I got up so Advil was part of breakfast.
Two pairs of socks and tying tighter seems to be working - sensitive spots on heels aren't getting irritated.

Misc (Mini BC) 5:00 [1] 0.0 mi

(30 p/u 30 s/u 30 Leg lifts) x 2
Prerun weight 181, post run 179 - I know this is not real, but it sure was nice to see.

Walking 14:11 [1] 0.9 mi (15:46 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:182lbs

Walked two portions during my run listed below - .3 miles and .6 miles (this included the uphill from the park behind the house - I walked all the way up it without stopping - first time I have been able to do this in a couple of years).

Running (Neighborhood) 32:14 [3] 3.3 mi (9:46 / mi)

Needed to run - my car got hit in the parking lot at work today. Good news is the woman didn't bolt without finding me - not too difficult since mine was the only other car in the parking lot.... Bad news is that I have to deal with it - luckily we both have GEICO. Her Jeep Liberty backed into and over the front of my car. Needs new hood and probably the bumper and headlight assembly - appointment at nearby claims center tomorrow.

Anyway, the run felt good - could actually breathe well for the first time since I returned from Colorado. Three of the measured halves were 445 445 447.

Misc (Mini Boot Camp) 5:00 [2] 0.0 mi

20 p/u 30 s/u 30 leg lift 20 p/u 30 s/u 30 (or 40, I lost count) leg lifts, 20 p/u
1 BigKat KitKat bar at lunch time - was smart and only took $1 to the store. So, I didn't buy three and eat three. Did have some ice cream this evening, but no wine.
