Orienteering race (Round Mountain) 1:22:00 [4] *** 5.9 km (13:54 / km)
shoes: Jalas Black FLX

Last day of Colorado 5 Day. Better than Day 1 and Day 2. It was predicted that I would blow up today from over confidence. And though I had a 10 minute error on one control, I held it together. I kept this prediction in mind and tried to keep my head in the game instead of just trying to get to the area and look around for the control...

Actually figured out which were reentrants versus spurs and stayed in touch with the map in the technical areas (except for the one control). Very tired legs.

Orienteering race (Relay Yellow Leg) 36:00 [4] *** 3.1 km (11:37 / km)
shoes: Silva K80

First leg of the relay - 8 point QOC team. Followed some out of the start incorrectly. Also botched #3 because I didn't want to follow Gail around, so went my own dumb way. Caught the pack again but freelanced to the GO control for a 2 minute loss. QOC won the bronze.

Orienteering race (Night-O) 1:22:00 [4] *** 5.0 km (16:24 / km)
shoes: Jalas Black FLX

First Night-O. Many thanks to my mentors: Sandy F for a bright flashlight, Night-O practice earlier in the week, and much encouragement. And Peter G for some map reading lessons. Ended up 2nd woman on Green and first F45. First US Championship gold medal! Now if I could only do this in the daylight.

Orienteering race (Day 2) 2:05:00 [4] *** 5.0 km (25:00 / km)
shoes: Silva K80

Spent most of the first half of the map with no idea where I really was. And with the many reentrants, this was not a good idea.

Orienteering race (Beuna Vista Day 1) 3:05:00 [4] *** 5.0 km (37:00 / km)
shoes: Jalas Black FLX

Totally hosed the orienteering. Accused of doing this on purpose, thus padding my AP tally to get back at the top of the list. I rather do that another way, like with my birthday bike ride on Sunday.

Running (Road & back) 20:00 [2] 1.6 mi (12:30 / mi)

Out to road and back. Lungs feel better each day sooner.

Orienteering race (Badger Flats Prolouge) 36:00 [4] *** 2.7 km (13:20 / km)
shoes: Silva K80

Worked starts and went out next to last. Sandy gave me a 5 minute head start and passed me at the next to last control when I hosed it. About 4 minutes in errors. Legs beat, so I passed on the Chase...

Running (Ranch to road) 20:00 [2] 1.6 mi (12:30 / mi)

First morning in Lake George, CO. "Run" out to road and back. Uphill .4 mile, downhill .4 mile and then back again. Chest is killing me, but feeling okay by the end.

Misc (Mini Boot Camp) 20:00 [1] 0.0 mi

Hike back up the hill and a little more to figure out my pace count. Also do 40 pushups and situps.

Orienteering (FF map) 1:30:00 [2] *** 3.0 km (30:00 / km)
shoes: Silva K80

A personal model event with Sandy F on the Florescant Fossil map. Then walked aoround a bit afterwards.

Orienteering (Night-Oh) 1:00:00 [1] *** 3.0 km (20:00 / km)
shoes: Jalas Black FLX

Practice orienteering after dark - I am very anxious when out in the dark. Discover I am holding my compass incorrectly thus explaining why I go off to the left whenever I use it to go from point to point.
