Orienteering (Fork Union Green) 1:20:40 [3] 5.55 km (14:32 / km) +140m 12:54 / km
shoes: Silva K80 1

Debated long and hard about bagging this long drive, but I felt I had to support the cadets. Had larger error - 6 minutes and one smaller one - 3 minutes. Cold and windy especially coming across the fields. Only person there who did Green.

Decided that the long trip required more orienteering. Hadn't wanted to commit to Red or Blue out of the gate. Ran this one steady with only a 2 minute error. Pretty worn out when done. Enjoyed the day despite the cold.

With another cold day in the forecast, I brought my running clothes to work with me. Ran 40 laps around the gym for warmup.

Used the PE teacher's FitnessGram Pacer program to run 20 yards back and forth at increasing speed. Made it to level 5 the first time and 40 "laps." The next 3 attempts were 20, 25, and 30. The 30 was a little easier after realizing I was running too far. The middle two were a struggle because it was too close to eating. I had to move up the time because of early dismissal brought on by the mega snowfall (1-2"). :) Will try this workout again.

Way too cold out again with the wind...brrr.
Treadmill program with incline - not my favorite thing, but the speed is so slow during those segments that I can walk.

With temps in the 20's and "feels like" temps in the teens with the wind, I hopped onto the treadmill. Actually, I am totally amazed that I did a workout today.

Ran .75 mile at 4.5 mph, then .5 mile at 4.7, 4.9, 5.1, 5.3, 5.5, 5.3, 5.1, 4.9 (.25), 5.5. Good steady effort - as always, it seemed harder than running at a faster pace outside.

These little guys sure enjoyed the treadmill...
