Orienteering (Lake Accotink) 2:08:00 [2] 10.0 km (12:48 / km)

Lots of "creative" orienteering. And my legs felt dead... One of Sid's course variations - each person on Brown+ had 3 loops. Each loop had the same first control but you were given 3 different ways to get to the control. Distance is actual on a 7.4 k course.

Beautiful day - a bit warm near 80.

Note

The GPS says my nemisis - the hill at the end of my ride - is .286 of a mile. It has an evalvation change of 67'. It took me 2:28 to get up to the top. Of course, the hill wouldn't seem so ardurous if it was at the beginning instead of the end...

Weight this morning is 182.

Biking (Bike Trail) 1:22:38 [2] 15.25 mi (5:25 / mi)

Another beautiful day, and with the days with light after work rapidly decreasing, I made sure I got a ride in today. Out on the 4 Mile Run and W&OD Trails to East Falls Church and back. Trail is slightly hilly in parts requiring some work.

Part way out I stopped and put the seat higher about 1/2". This seemed to help make the ride a bit more comfortable.

Had to dodge quite a few strollers and loose kids spread across the trail. But still worth the effort.

Running (Lake Accotink) 38:14 [3] 3.85 mi (9:56 / mi)

Beautiful day, so I left work a little early to get a run in around the lake. Goal for the year was to again break 40 minutes for the loop. Didn't really intend to try that today, but I did in my fastest time ever! A lot of rocks have been added to the one side which floods, so it wasn't as soft as I would like. Only had to walk the two sets of steps and the hill up to the school. Felt strong.

Running/Walking (Lake Accotink) 43:36 [2] 4.0 mi (10:54 / mi)

This lap included a bit more walking and a run up and back on the spur. My socks had a hole in the heel, so a blister developed there. But another one also developed on the side of the ball of my right foot. I really have no luck with New Balance shoes & will never buy another pair.

Walking (Cool down) 6:06 [1] 0.4 mi (15:15 / mi)

Walked the end of the loop to cool down. Sweating heavily at the end. Did not run with water today but had a drink at 3.85 mile point.

Knees very painful walking down the stairs from the park restroom. Took 4 Advil and they felt fine by the later evening. Shin ached during run but not later.

Wore my Garmin ForeRunner. There were a couple of weak spots around the lake.

Biking 58:00 [2] 10.78 mi (5:23 / mi)

Out and about on this nice day. Had to subtract about 4 minutes of stoppage time - trail directions, 2 long lights. Shin sore in the evening.
