Note

Shoulders stiff today from carrying the hydration pack yesterday. Chest cleared up by noon. Raw area on left foot didn't get rubbed yesterday even though it wasn't covered. Right foot blister is now cut away. Have to see how to protect them before Annapolis 10 miler on Sunday. Straight running like that seems to aggravate condition.

Trail Run (Fountainhead to Bull Run) 3:43:00 [3] 14.0 mi (15:56 / mi)

Started out around 7:30 and already dripping. Before leaving home, I tried to duct tape Compeed over my blister areas (inside of both heels), but it didn't last long. New roll of duct tape didn't seem to have same sticking properties as the one I just finished. Anyway, started from Fountainhead and followed the Blue trail to just after the Bull Run Marina. Fiddled with shoes the first mile and then settled in. Chatted with a couple of people coming in the other direction between 4&5 and at 12 took some photographs of a young girl leaving for college on Monday and her 12 year old brother on a bonding outing. Struggled pretty much the whole time but enjoyed being out. Should have turned around at 5. Miles were 1814 1257 1339 1206 1456 1517 1830 1957 1618 1642 1212 1543 1627 2000. The 12 minute mile is the flat one with a big hill on each end. Walked all of the last mile. Breathing tight for about 6 miles. GU at 6.5 and 1/2 Power bar about 3 and 12. Carried pack with water and Gatorade. Drank about 50 oz water and 30 oz Gatorade.

Note

For my birthday, I got to move about 150 boxes at work. Each weighed about 30 pounds. A good workout.

Running/Walking (Lake Accotink) 1:31:00 [2] 7.5 mi (12:08 / mi)

Humid 86 degrees but more comfortable than that around the lake in the shade. Two counterclockwise loops - not my best time but in keeping with my recent times. First loop was 43.5 and second was 47.5. Quarter size blister on inside of left heel. Very painful on second lap. Not sure why but have felt it for the last couple of weeks. Not new shoes or model. May have started sensitive spot when orienteering.
