Running/Walking 1:00:41 [1] 4.72 mi (12:51 / mi) +15m 12:44 / mi
weight:188lbs

Ran and walked the outbound, then walked most of the return trip with some light pole sprint intervals near the end. A sticky 70 degrees out.

Finished the month off on a good note. Will post a plan for December tomorrow.

Swimming 41:00 [1] 1.14 mi (35:57 / mi)
weight:189lbs

4x500 with a 30-60 seconds break in between. Set out just to do 30 minutes, but when the 3rd one felt so effortless, and was also just as fast as the 2nd, I added a 4th for a cool down.

Biking 1:07:00 [1] 12.64 mi (5:18 / mi) +21m 5:16 / mi
weight:191lbs

About 45 with the wind chill, which was brutal coming back, especially by the airport. Shorts again, which were fine, and two long sleeve tops, which were a little too warm, except when they weren't.

Went through Crystal City, both directions, since I thought it was better than having to do the switchback to get onto the trail. Need to not do that. Not fun, and coming back, I rode a long block on the sidewalk since the signs said no bikes on the road.

Getting dark at the end. And a little chilly, which is when the shirts were just right. :)

Biking 1:00:41 [1] 10.88 mi (5:35 / mi) +133m 5:22 / mi

Race timing EX2 FBYB #4 - Fountainhead, then after getting home later than hoped, and a nap, I actually finished off the vacation week with a bike ride. Usually, I just want to get the maximum veg time out of the last day before returning to work. But I didn't! Go me! :)

Thought a long sleeve and a short sleeve, as well as shorts would be sufficient, but I was a little chilly doing the test loop around the block. Mostly my arms. So, I came in and put on a jacket instead of the short sleeve, and it turned out that I was now overdressed. Vanity prevented me from riding in only the tight long sleeve on top, since I have back put on a bunch of pounds recently. Got to do something about whatever is causing me to eat a large dinner, followed by 4 donuts and two klondike bars, for example. Head or heart or body - whatever it is, it has to stop.

Treading water and pool running, followed by 250 freestyle. Pool was busy. Shoulder a bit worn out from swimming and rug making project, so more legs was good.

Swimming 30:00 [1]

Swimming was just what I needed today. I would like to think that this will translate into another streak, but I will just accept that it was a good day, and I hope tomorrow will be another good day.

I can't bear to look back and see how little I worked out the last six weeks. Yes, things have been rough, but I hate to use that as an excuse.

Orienteering race (Short Stumble) 2:27:20 [3] *** 6.99 mi (21:05 / mi) +149m 19:46 / mi

I missed the mass start because I was fiddling around trying to get the results monitors to stay on. It always seems like the setup plan has enough setup time in it, but then, poof, the time is gone.

So, out I went by myself about 22 minutes after the mass start. All by my lonesome. Poor me. OK, I wasn't that sad about it. I enjoyed doing my own thing, even when I was making my own butterfly loops.

Everything hurt after, reminding me that sitting on one's butt for weeks on end, and then going out and tackling a tough course wasn't the brightest idea in the world. But, I survived.

Walking 55:00 [1] 2.75 mi (20:00 / mi)

From Sandy's log:
Valerie was in town and we met up for an early morning hike in the Wissahickon. Just strolled along catching up (and dodging mountain bikes).

Good company. Thank you, Sandy.

I did not drink a drop of alcohol for five months - from December to June. Then I did. Thought I could control it, but after 5 months of varying degrees of drinking, some days none, some days z couple of glasses, and some days a bottle, and on the worse days...two bottles, and with the possibility of escalating back to an excessive amount each and every day, I know that I can't. Being an alcoholic contributed to my sister's death. I have always tried to be better than her, and I surely don't want to be like her in this area.
