Swimming 1 [0]

Back to the pool. Two hours this time. Lots of kids today vs. Monday, when Lailah and I were the only ones in the small pool.

Explored the ice hangings after.

Walking 15:00 [0] 0.5 mi (29:59 / mi)

A slippery walk to the park with Lailah to feed the ducks. Very slow pace with the ice, so we called and got a ride back to the house.

Walking 20:00 [1] 0.7 mi (28:34 / mi)

Slippery day. Roger, Lailah and I went to the museum. Lots of good hands on science stuff to do.

Then later, Lailah and I did the loop to the bike trail and back, this time at least riding 5 feet on the trail before turning back for home. Lots of work for Grammy pushing Lailah and bike back of up the hill, hitting all of the snowy grass patches in order to make tracks.

Also checked out some of the jewelry collection.

Swimming 1 [0]

A snowy day, so to the pool with Lailah after buying her some snow boots.

Then a chill evening with Roger and Uncle Gary while Sarah and Matt spent the night in Chicago.

EX2 - Prince WIlliam - Fall BYB Trail Run - timing Iowa

Walking 20:00 [1] 0.7 mi (28:34 / mi)

In Iowa. In the rain. Trotted behind Lailah while she rode her bike almost to the bike trail which was downhill. Pushed her lots of the way back.

Note

Finally unloaded the van from the weekend and sorted out the piles in the living room and the workroom. Transferred my O stuff from my old bag to the newly acquired one from this weekend - much bigger, not a good thing...

However, the more pressing question is how did I end up with GU which has a use by date of 10/10?! Sad to think that I have done no significant training prior to whatever date I would have purchased said GU.

Note

Sort of have the results process down pretty well these days, and wanting a new, little challenge, I decided I wanted to make the same old OUSA medals special, or at least not so unspecial.

Doing Friday's medals for a Saturday awards ceremony, in the comfort of my warm home, went off without a hitch.

Of course, it wasn't so seamless under pressure on Sunday, but I think I can perfect the process for the next time. A new challenge is good, even a silly one.

Sadly, Anna, my test label runner was a DNF for the Night-O.

QOC A-meet in the books, almost, but wanted to jot some thoughts down about the weekend.

Pluses
Night-O - woohoo! If I hadn't glanced at the map ahead of time to look for possible radio control sites, then I would have been the F55 US Champ. But that's OK, for sure. I just needed to get out into the woods, and I did, and I didn't break myself too much.

Amy, Sandy, Sara and Tori - what a wonderful Results team. I couldn't have done all the gee wow without them. I hope they are not as sore as I am.

Results Display - so much fun to see people standing around watching the results, comparing notes, even in the cold, and it was freezing cold on Friday night.

QOC - Meet Director, Jon T pulled it together, and Heidi O, the volunteer scrounger extraordinaire, recruited the most impressive list of volunteers, as well as created the most detailed volunteer assignment schedule in the history of man.

Get out of Jail Free card - I think I managed, barely, to not need to use it this weekend.

Best "Pro" of all is that maybe the closest thing to a "Con" I have, which I have to apply to myself, is that the awards ceremony started late today. Thanks to some last minute self disqualifications for running on the road, and having to redo the label setup for some unknown reason, it started about 15 minutes late. Will have to prefect the labels on the medals process for the next time. [Edit: giving myself a partial pass on the lateness of the awards ceremony since the race started 17:57 late, I think I was equally as late with the medals. :)]

So, that's all for now. Next is RouteGadget.

Note

OK, one other semi-con - I am ticked off that I didn't see the Lyn/Sharon, with George in the wake. Look forward to reading walk's account. And if he doesn't do it justice, then I will have to instead.

Orienteering race (Night-O!!) 1:20:00 [3]

I went out on the course. I did not break myself.
6 PM

Orienteering race 1 [3] 3.06 mi ( / mi) +155m / mi

It has been so long since I played with my toys that I pushed the stop to start my watch. It was only when I was close to the 2nd control when I realized what I had done. Retraining is in order.
