Running (Turkey Trot) 47:31 [3] 5.0 mi (9:30 / mi)

Ran the 5 miler in Davenport, Iowa. Miles 1057 923 924 926 823. First mile included long uphill and 25 secs to the start. Last mile included long donwhill. :) Adhered to game plan - go out slowly and try to stay steady. Previous years: 99: 4542 00: 4854 01: 4706.

Note

Orienteering (Little Bennett Green) 1:17:44 [3] 6.0 km (12:57 / km)

GoT out early and hope to finish in time to also do MCRRC 5k XC run starting at the same place. Have a fairly clean run - though breathing poor to begin with (no warm up).

Trail Run (5k race) 33:35 [3] 5.0 km (6:43 / km)

Peel off gaiters and O pants. Decide to go in O shoes. Wait about 12 minutes between finish of my o course and start of the race. Getting a little cold. Start is flat and then down hill. Everyone just ahead of me stops when they come to a huge muddy area and a stream going across the trail. I blow by them and manage not to fall - oohs and aahs behind me. Glad I didn't make a fool of myself - o shoes very helpful here. Run strong for the first part. Walk a couple of long uphills. Legs wooden for the long uphill to the finish leg. Bunch of young kids - only one of the 10 year olds beat me. 122/185 overall. 3/6 in age group and 34/62 for women.

Running/Walking (Control pick up) 35:00 [2] 2.0 km (17:30 / km)

Did not want to pick up bags, but there are 1-4 from Green all by themselves on one side of the road. Stay in sweat pants. Go in opposite order from the morning. Probably less climb this way, but come to a water control first. At stream, I step onto the rocks, but it is only leaves - sweat pants wet up to the thighs with no dry pants in the car. Find them all but not without some trouble on 2&3. Run fairly hard down the road from the last one.

30 situps when I get home.

Mowing/Yard (Mow lawn) 30:00 [1] 0.0 mi

Last mow of the season. Also cleaned out flower beds.

Walking (Treadmill) 54:00 [1] 3.0 mi (18:00 / mi)

Didn't want to do anything but decided any forward motion would be a victory. So, watched the end of a movie and walked for 42 minutes. Then ran for 3 miles (separate entry) and walked again to cool down.

Running (Treadmill) 36:00 [2] 3.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

Ran the 36 minutes straight. A little bit of a physical struggle to start but breathing was good throughout.

Situps afterwards - set of 60, then stretched hamstrings, and then another set of 20.

Walking (Warmup/cool down) 10:00 [1] 0.55 mi (18:11 / mi)

Treadmill.

Running (Treadmill) 36:00 [2] 3.0 mi (12:00 / mi)
ahr:145 max:159

Slapped on the tunes and ran 3 miles straight on the treamill with HR monitor for 1st time - had to do something to entertain myself further. Have had one for ages but never use it. Decided to compare how much HR is at 3 mph on treadmill vs 3 mph on the track. Ranged from 146-159 at the end. Breathing very good. Head draining like crazy. Pretty sure that the 3 miles don't outweight the 3 Kit Kat bars. I hate when Giant has them 3 for a $1. I have no self-control!

60 situps.

Did neighbors yard.

Saturday Nov 8, 2003 #

Mowing/Yard (Leaves) 30:00 [1] 0.0 mi

Orienteering (Water Gap Day 2) 1:30:00 [3] 5.33 km (16:53 / km)

Feeling even worse than yesterday. Up all night coughing. Technically one of my cleanest days ever. However, physically I am exhausted.

Saturday Nov 1, 2003 #

Orienteering (Water Gap Day 1) 1:30:00 [3] 4.56 km (19:44 / km)
