Today was a hills and tempo day. Warmed up to Skjerven, then 8x30" hills on a very muddy and nobbly trail, followed by 15' steady state with a bunch of up, then a much more lame 4x20" hills at Nedre Blanksjø, which turned out not to be a good place for short hills -- not steep or sustained enough for it. Then back home.

I hadn't realized that there was orienteering in my back yard today so it was a bit surprising when someone popped out right by a control in front of me (there are a lot of random controls out there, so that hadn't tipped me off). He was wearing an O suit that must have been from the 80s and he had sort of that 80s look about him, and the birds were chirping after a bit of rain and I felt like I had been transported into one of those cheesy info videos they used to show in school, probably with a title like, "Orienteering: A Nordic Sport For All". I composed the soundtrack in my head for the rest of the run.

It was pretty warm out, by Oslo standards, but also sticky with a bit of a rain. And a lot of mud. So much mud. Everything felt pretty good running and my butt was tired from the hard climbing efforts, so I give it an A.
