Hiking 32:00 [2] 2.0 mi (16:00 / mi)

Arrived at the Old Farm trailhead on Boundary Rd to discover that the blue garment I thought was running shorts was instead a Tshirt. Doh. Faced with the wrong gear for trail running, road running, or trail ridng on my MTB, I decided to walk briskly to Rt 20. Fast-hiking, I took in different aspects of the terrain, the woods, and the watershed than when I run. Near Rt 20, the downed tree had been cleared away from the trail. I was surprised to count its rings only as high as about 35. The tree seemed much too large to be only 35.
Several Aha moments while gazing across the watershed. I noticed a particular spot on the far side of the watershed, where someone put a section of a picket fence in the woods. I put together the cognitive map of how the North/East section of the trail, which is south of the Assabet River and east of the brook, relates to the other section I sometimes run on, which is on the west of the brook.
