Road running warm up/down 12:00 [1] 1.4 mi (8:34 / mi)
shoes: BA7

Warmup before O sprints at Crandall Park, Tolland, CT. I missed my Sunday run group by being late to the starting point, and couldn't find them, so I did a little road warmup.

Orienteering race 27:43 [4] 2.2 km (12:36 / km)
shoes: Jalas2

Sprint A. Major screwup on leg 8.

Orienteering race 26:27 [3] 2.2 km (12:01 / km)
shoes: Jalas2

Sprint B. No major messups or walkabouts, but I did a lot more walking than I should have. The humidity was oppressive.

Orienteering race 1:24:00 [3] 5.5 km (15:16 / km)
shoes: Jalas2

Red. The humidity had started to abate a bit, and it actually got a bit cooler. I saw a new phenomenon while orienteering that I had never seen before: a lightning bolt strike in my field of vision.

AOWN: Saw 2 deer in the woods.

trail running warm up/down 25:00 [1] 2.0 mi (12:30 / mi)
shoes: Salomon trail shoes

Warmup 15' before and cooldown 10' after trail race.

trail running 24:46 [4] 3.14 mi (7:53 / mi) +95m 7:13 / mi

3rd and final Wachusett 5K trail race. I had marked approximate split locations for each half mile, though at race time I only remembered where the .5 and 1.0 mile hacks were. I wanted to get a better idea of the pace, and whether I was dogging it early in the race. I didn't think so, but it was hard to tell.

This week, I thought I was in about 11th after the start, passed 2 people around .5M, and was eventually passed by 2 or 3 others between .5 and 1.25 miles. After that, no passes, even though I thought I could nip a guy wearing a Wapack Trail race Tshirt on the last hill. I didn't have it in me today, though I managed to preserve my position on the last major uphill.
I thought I raced harder this week than last, but clocked almost the exact same time.

The Tshirt for completing all 3 races was a bit disappointing: large sponsor logos, no graphics other than logos, plain white, nothing to get worked up over. For the race I wore my 1998 Billygoat shirt (aka PG as Satan^H^H^H^H^Ha cross between a man and a goat), though it was too hot for a cotton Tshirt.

Road running tempo 23:40 [4] 5.0 km (4:44 / km)
ahr:156 max:175 shoes: BA6

CMS Members only 5K race. Done as a tempo workout, since I plan on racing the trail 5K tomorrow. First 2 miles were 7:49, 7:48; last 1.1M was in 8:03, 7:19 pace. Did not leave 2-2 breathing, but still managed to pass a person or 2 in the last half mile. At one point I caught a glimpse of Barb McManus (a 2:56 marathoner) pushing her daughter in a stroller, and put on a little speed: I did not want to be passed by the person pushing the stroller.
