Orienteering 1:24:14 [3] *** 12.4 km (6:48 / km) +230m 6:13 / km
shoes: Integrators

Leg 21The long was an almost very successful race for me. A sudden loss of contact trying to catch Igor combined with fatigue after 12 km of orienteering lost me 2 minutes in an open field. However 2 minutes compared to last years usual 10 minutes is a pleasantly large improvement. I wanted to orienteer better then at West Point and CSU. I believe this was the case. Another positive note, I felt especially sharp in this segment of #12. Although I could have been more direct, I had no trouble precision orienteering through the vegetation. This I believe is because of the many hours of head scratching I've been doing in the fields surrounding Ottawa mapping for the OOC. I am happy with my race.

Over the weekend I was especially impressed by the performances of Robbie and Jordon. Robbie with his fast sprint and respectable long, Jordon for beating me in every race. I am looking forward to the next A-meet we race again, I really enjoyed the Buffalo O-festival.

Orienteering (Middle) 33:23 [3] *** 4.5 km (7:25 / km) +145m 6:23 / km
shoes: Integrators

Throughout the Buffalo festival I focused on keeping a system in my mind. In the middle I was on top of almost all legs except for two. Interesting both were similar mistakes. To nine I was overly precautious and aimed a little too far off on my bearing.Leg 21 As a result I made a parallel error with the boulders and went down to the gully too early. I lost 30 seconds from the resulting uncertainty. To twelve I did the same thing, running slowly from fear of missing when I should have run fast and confidently knowing that I would either hit or miss and then quickly reorient off of the trails. Lost entire minute on this one. Route Gadget for this race is pretty good with Jordan, Robbie and Mike selected.

Orienteering (Sprint) 13:10 [3] ** 2.5 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: Integrators

I was over precautious in the sprint. I reached control 12 and realized that the race was over and I had not been running fast enough. I sped up and lost contact; 5 seconds on 13 and 15 seconds on 14.

Wow that was a long bike ride! All the way to Timm Road and eventualy back again. Super nice ride. Going to be tough commuting that distance everyday. Just under 40 minutes one way.
