Swim 20:00 [4] 1.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

Turkey Tri - Good tune up!

Got a descent warm up but very short for each sport. Cold morning and cold water. Once the gun went off it was "automatic mode" and I took comfort in the amount of experience I have RACING. First tri since Vineman - like riding a bike. Felt pretty good and miss it.

Front pack split and I inserted myself right behind the lead swimmer in our wave. Quick but very comfortable pace. Right before the first buoy I stopped and got some water in my foggy glasses. I let the lead swimmer go and stopped the group of now 6-8 guys behind me. They all split and I put in an effort and caught the guy in front again. Comfortable I looked back and everyone was dropped and now in 3 lanes. Cool! Swam behind that guy until the finish and got on the side of him once just to check pace and see if he was slowing. Good tactic for long course racing but not for a sprint. Lesson learned!

Unfortunately, I was 4 waves deep and the 17yr old who won had a swim(10min flat!) that was about 2min faster. No fade in ME and probably better as HIM or IM pace but good to know my swim is ready.

Road Bike 50:00 [5] 17.0 mi (20.4 mph) +792ft

No doubt. Fastest bike I have ever been on. Rolling 30+ around first turn on the flat as my GPS turned on and a bit scared. yyyeeeee haaa! Dropped it like it was hot and made sure not to hold back. I wanted to ride all day with the hum of those wheels and whip of the air. FUN!!!!!

First ride w/ Q rings, Quarq, wheels - Never checked pwr during race and rings put a slightly different load but the time went by too fast to notice anyways

Long way to go on the bike - after looking at file noticed I just could not get my HR up. Just like the 20min efforts last week my HR was chilling and my legs were screaming. Avg HR was 153bpm / avg pwr 278w. Not bad for a HIM but for a sprint it sucks. Again, this helped sharpen I hope and hope to hold close to that for 56 mile next weekend.

Running 40:00 [5] 5.5 mi (7:16 / mi) +142ft 7:06 / mi
shoes: NB-1600-Blu-1

very pleased to have zero issues with ankle and zero fatigue or issues from pushing until the last sec on the bike. I knew from the first few steps in I was ready to RUN! Past a crap load of people and started counting from the turn around. Past another 13 by the finish line and just focusing on form and stoked to be a RUNNER. FUN! Again, feel like I am "not able" to dial it up that much harder but this was a help to put next week into perspective. More of a Olympic effort/speed but a boost and help to know all three are good to go.
