St Albans half
Had hoped to use this as another guide going into marathon training, but it was a tough old day and I'm not sure it tells me much.
It was a hot, muggy day, and the course a bit hillier than I gave it credit for. Couple of long drags I knew about, but then the far loop was all up & down, no serious climbs but just lots of small pushes needed. I couldn't cope and instead of cruising 3:5x on the way home I couldn't do better than 4:15s even with the slope.
I was also not in brilliant shape, just barely recovered from my cold and had only 4 hours of sleep. I thought I had backed off enough, but no. Looking back strava thinks my first 2 miles were 3:45 pace adjusting for climb so my pacing early on was not smart.
So for sure this is not a time i should use as a guide for marathon training. Neither was the Wheato 10k. Neither was the Notts park run. So am a bit in limbo here!

Off-road running warm up/down 5:00 [1] 1.0 km (5:00 / km)

Not really enough if I'm honest

Easy around town with strides along granary lane again. Felt ok albeit not really testing myself.

V easy jog to get a sense of whether it makes sense to run St Albans half. Didn't feel good at all, but able to pick up a bit doing strides on granary lane.

Super easy jog home from nomansland common. Felt nice to get some fresh air, and don't think I'll have done any harm.

Off-road running 30:00 [1] 5.4 km (5:33 / km)
(sick) shoes: inov8 race ultra 270

Felt a bit fluey over the weekend, just a cold but with aches and fever I didn't fancy running at all. This was still v heavy legged, but it was nice to get out and move.
