JK classic
Again it was nice to run a JK classic I could cope with physically, though I knew the distance would be a bit of a stretch. But I fuelled up well and took 3 gels, and didn't crash as badly as I have done on long races in the past.
Not quite as solid technically as the middle, but decent overall. Made a couple of disappointing mistakes: at #7 I took a good route but just switched off a bit near the very end; and at #32 aimed off too far. Thought I was scrappy through the rhodi corridor just after the crossing, but it was tricky there and with hindsight I didn't do too badly.
Very much had to manage my effort physically at the end as my hammies started to cramp going through terrain. But just about hung on.

JK middle
Good run. I felt I could run quick by my standards and that the biggest risk would be if I overran my technique. Think I got the balance about right - never quite fully in control of things as the controls came thick & fast, but I was able to slow down or take safer routes where I needed to.
So no real errors to speak of. I came pretty close at #5, 22 and 23, but took the time to sort things out properly rather than pressing on.
Really enjoyed running a JK middle on an area that suits me physically for the first time in a while.

JK sprint
Managed about 3/4 of a good run, but really lost it in the last k or so. I think mentally after I crossed the river at #22 I started treating it as the run in to home, and stopped taking in enough detail from the map. All of a sudden I kept turning corners without much of a picture in mind and getting disoriented, and didn't quite have the discipline to slow it down a bit. I dropped back by almost 2 mins over controls 23-26, which were really not that hard. Especially #26, where I stopped just a few metres short.
So a bit disappointing, but on the plus side felt good enough physically.
