Orienteering race 2:36:00 [3] 14.0 km (11:09 / km) +730m 8:50 / km

Northern champs - Bigland
Having underfuelled yesterday I had no chance of recovering for this. So it was a long hard training run really. I hit the wall properly with still a good hour to go despite trying to hold back. By the end I was walking, and not a fast walk either.
Managed very well technically for the most part thanks to making use of the detail and my compass. Just an annoying mistake at #4 where I switched off having got on to the ridge, needless. Plus my route to #18 wasn't great, one poor decision the the middle where I got drawn to the paths out to the right

Off-road running warm up/down 6:00 [1] 1.0 km (6:00 / km)

with lil, new buggy pb. Took it steady but still a bit quicker as I'm much less worried about bumps and jolts than at 4 months

Orienteering race 1:49:19 [5] 9.2 km (11:53 / km) +655m 8:46 / km
ahr:166 shoes: Icebug (iii)

British night champs - Great Tower
Not sure I've had an orienteering experience more challenging than the 2/3 of this that was under mist. Struggled on a few early on with parallel errors being all too easy to make. Having said that I was pretty pleased at how I limited the losses despite not being confident a lot of the time.
Also faded a lot physically, didn't really fuel up sensibly (about one meal short).
Headlamp kept slipping too low, must fix that.

Mostly easy round the short marshalls Heath loop, but strode out down gun alley to nick the segment

Kenyan hills, or a version of it. Hard on the up, steady/fast on the downs, and easier on the few flat stretches. Didn't go too crazy.
One of these days I want to nick the fastest time for 'gun alley' down towards batford. Will have to run it in the light.
