DIY Goat, Mountain Lakes, 10.35 km, 400 m climb. Running out of time to do this, and with my weekend booked up, I took a vacation day on this absolutely lovely day. Just under 70 F when I started, and 77 F when I finished. I carried a pint of water and drank half of it, and didn't eat the gel that I brought. I was hoping to be under two hours, and made that comfortably. I had the 1:10000 map printed on glossy photo paper, and my eyes were adequate for that.
Slight fishhook on #1 (and a hesitation as I squinted to find a reentrant in the circle. #2 and #3 fine, pretty straight on #4 but I got off to the right near the end, corrected when I saw the clearing ahead, and went directly to the cicle, but I was one cliff high and briefly took a look uphill before turning around and spotting the flag behind me. RIght aroud the marsh on #6 (maybe that was dumb), shaky going into #7 but I was where I intended to be, #8 fine. On #9 I was a doofus crossing the trail and managed to loop around and hit the same trail, but I immediately realized what I had done and the rest was fine. Shaky on #10 but spiked it, #11 no problem. The GPS track id out to lunch on #12 because I was on the dirt road, not traipsing over hills. I should have stayed on the trail at the end longer, would have saved a few lines of climb. #14 and #15 fine, skipped #16, #17, #18, F all fine.
Relaxed in the car for an hour playing with my phone, then drove home and got to Lunenburg a little after 4 PM.
