running (pavement) 34:55 [2] 5.38 km (6:29 / km) +86m 6:00 / km
shoes: Saucony Guide 8 Powergrid

Seemed like the woods would be a total mess after the ice storm, so I just stuck to the roads.

running (pavement) 26:26 [3] 4.04 km (6:32 / km) +29m 6:19 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 350

Neighborhood jog, in freezing drizzle. I was about to head out the door when I saw that I had dawdled long enough that I didn't need the headlamp, but I simultaneously decided to put on spiked shoes, which I did not regret. A little tough to work up the motivation to do this before work in these conditions, but the forecast didn't really look like it would get any better later. It appears to have been freezing rain/sleet/ice all day (I lost power for a while), and everything is now a mess out there, especially my driveway, which still had the inch of snow on it before this hit, and now it's going to freeze solid.

shoveling (snow) 20:00 [2]

Snow dealings, round 6a: Nancy's driveway. I was wearing my GPS watch, and got satellite lock before I started, but I apparently forgot to hit the start button. A bit less than an inch, not worth pulling out the snowblower, and I mostly just used the pusher. Timing was good, as it was just on the verge of switching over to freezing rain, and it should be regular rain later on. This included clearing off the cars.

Robbs Hill, etc., In The Dark. Icy in spots. Made a couple of wrong turns, so I ended up going longer than I had initially intended.

Groton Town Forest, In The Dark. A little icy, and I was a bit overdressed for the high 30s F.

hiking (stairs) 35:51 [2] 0.1 km (5:58:30 / km) +50m 1:42:26 / km
shoes: Oboz Sawtooth II

Climbing the Oak Island lighthouse (with Nancy, natch), and after a bit, back down. The GPS track on this is not particularly meaningful, of course, so I estimated the distance and climb. This lighthouse has a series of ship ladders inside, rather than the more common spiral stairs. It's pretty tall as these things go.

pedaling 1:21:31 [1] 13.75 km (5:56 / km)

We took the ferry out to Bald Head Island, to see Old Baldy Lighthouse (which was unfortunately closed for the season, so we didn't get to climb it), but Nancy also wanted to see the foundations of the former Cape Fear Lighthouse. So we rented a couple of beach cruiser bikes and rode out there (on paved paths). Interesting little island, half occuoied by a golf course and otherwise packed with houses that I assume are outrageously expensive, but that aren't overly ostentatious, and the only motor vehicles are golf carts of varying sizes.
