Medium length CCW loop across the street. I had heard from my dental hygienist that Szocik had sold 17 acres adjacent to Gilchrest St., which had been cleared for house lots. I was aware of that property, and in particular that it had a 10-foot strip running through the middle of it that was owned by the town. When I was on the ConComm, we had discussed the idea of asking Szocik if he'd be interested in doing a land swap, because the established trail that runs parallel to the road and goes to the Boy Scout bridge crossed the back of that property. So I went to check it out. Sure enough, the cleared area was easy to see, but didn't quite reach the trail, so maybe the land swap happened. Ideally, when the build the houses, they'll also create a trailhead if they'll have a subdivision road.
Anyway, I wore spikedy shoes just in case, and that was sure a good thing because about half of this was treacherous ice. Quite a nice day, very wind up higher but not in the woods, and the temperature was close to freezing. Lots of stranded ice cakes down by the brook, so the water must have been pretty high recently.
