alpine skiing 1:16:16 [0] 14.55 km (5:15 / km) +1780m 3:15 / km

Killington, with Nancy, first time there since 1992, I think. Definitely on the cold side, but not as bad as Maine a month ago. Parked at the Skyeship Gondola and did four runs, the first three together and on the last one I did Outer Limits (a lot of ice, grass, and rocks, with low visibility due to snow guns) while Nancy did a different trail. Conditions were not the best, with a mixture of soft snow piles and areas scraped down to ice, and some crowding, not because there were that many people there (no long lift lines) but because a lot of the terrain wasn't open.

alpine skiing 1:03:14 [0] 8.78 km (7:12 / km) +976m 4:38 / km

After a litte warmup break, three more runs, the third of which involved going up a Poma lift, which is something that I maybe hadn't done since the 1970s.

alpine skiing 1:04:31 [0] 14.82 km (4:21 / km) +1346m 3:00 / km

And after lunch three more runs, including the very long one back to the car.

skating (ice) 45:59 [2] 10.39 km (4:25 / km) +2m 4:25 / km

I guess I get to do this on average about once a year, and tonight was the night. Full moon (behind thin clouds until just after I finished), though I used a headlamp as well. Breeze out of the south that I only noticed when I was heading into it. Ice was thick enough to drive a car on, and smooth in some spots, but very bumpy in many places due to snowmobiles having driven on it before the snow melted. Tough to find big enough stretches to really get going, and going fast carried the risk that I'd hit a bad spot with too much momentum (I did fall once, and sort of stumbled a few other times). The ice might have been better if I'd picked a different lake, but this one is convenient. The only thin spot was along the beach where I get onto the ice, as is often the case, but I didn't break through. Fun times. Supposed to get a little snow tomorrow, so this might be the only chance.
