orienteering (night) 47:52 [3] *** 3.2 km (14:57 / km) +130m 12:26 / km

RHIN-O #5. Warmish and foggy. One screw-up on the way to #4 when I started by needlessly going through the woods, and then blew past a turn, and it was a stupid route choice to begin with, and it's hard to believe I lost as little time as SA says I did. Then pretty sloppy on #6 and #7, and apparently a bad route choice to #12. The hatlamp seemed to be getting a little grumpy about operating in the damp conditions. There were a few times when I took it off and held it at thigh level, which was a big improvement in the fog.

Note

zilch, but I was already well beyond the number of hours at work for which I have to get approval, and knew I was going to have to work on Saturday as well, and although my job supposedly involves sitting at a desk and writing software, in practice it involves a lot of walking around the facility (sometimes carrying stuff), so it's not an entirely sedentary experience.

orienteering race 1:27:44 [3] *** 6.64 km (13:13 / km)
spiked:11/16c shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 350

Beaver Brook, Red. Foggy, drizzly, and about 34 F, despite the forecast of temps in the 50s, but not as unpleasant as that would make it sound. The course went CCW this time, which was a pleasant change. No really big goofs, just a few that I must have pretty much walked right past but missed them due to the low visibility (at one point I took my glasses off for a couple of legs because they weren't doing me any good). Finished well behind Alar, and quite a way behind Jim Arsenault.
