running (pavement) 26:16 [3] 4.48 km (5:52 / km)

Highland St. loop CCW. They sent us home from work at noon, and I waited until late afternoon and then did the logical thing: put on a ratty old pair of shoes and went out for a run. The rain went from light to moderate, and the wind was displaying some substantial gusts up at treetop height, but at ground level I don't think it ever reached what I was experiencing sustained at the beach yesterday. For the last little bit of the run I don't think it was raining at all, but just as I got home, a pretty good band of precipitation blew through. I expect that the worst of Hurricane Sandy will occur in the next few hours, but this was the latest I could go without it being dark.

Note

Drove out to Wellfleet with another pilot, arriving just before dawn, so there was the potential for a job back from the place where I like to land in order to retrieve the car. But it was blowing way too hard at that point, so I didn't start setting up, and when the first pilot launched, it looked like enough of a handful that I still didn't start setting up, because the forecast was for it to get stronger as the day went on. There was a big crowd, and by the time we left at around 9, about half of the pilots were in the air and the other dozen or so didn't look like they were probably going to. Which is a roundabout way of saying that I didn't get any exercise. Had I stayed home, there was an orienteering meet about 10 minutes away, but I missed it. (When I got home, I was beat, and took a nap.)
