skating 30:00 [1]

Time is an estimate. This was on Flushing Pond, with Stephen trying out my father's skates (the ones he raced with in the Boston Garden long ago, as far as I know). Stephen did better than I expected, and it was very reminiscent of my father teaching me how to skate. Not very much exertion, though I did do one lap of the pond by myself at the end.

exercises 3:00 [5]

10 plyo, 20 pushups, 50 situps, 20 pushups, 50 situps, 20 pushups, 10 plyo

The plyometrics seem to be paying off a bit -- for the first time, a couple of the jumps were high enough for me to be able to see the upper surface of the top shelf. Gets the heart pumping pretty good, too, albeit briefly.

skating 44:29 [3]

Flushing Pond, 16 laps, with #6, 9, 12, and 15 being upright and leisurely. The ice wasn't bad, but not as nice as Long Sought For Pond. Afterwards I managed to talk Stephen and Nicole into putting on their coats and venturing out onto the ice to slide around, and to see what it's like to be out in the middle. Stephen seemed to have enough fun that he's interested in trying out skating.

exercises 2:50 [5]

10 plyo, 20 pushups, 50 situps, 20 pushups, 50 situps, 20 pushups

I had been considering heading down to the lake for a moonlight skate, but the sky clouded over, which reduced the appeal. I'll try to get on the ice tomorrow.

skating 38:02 [3]

Long Sought For Pond, temps maybe in the high 20s, part of the time alone, and part with Nancy (she was having some trouble with her skates). A little tough heading north, very easy coming back south, due to the wind. The ice was pretty good, not too many snowmobile bumps, though quite a few frozen-over ice fishing holes. The warm rain on Monday did a nice zamboni job on the surface. Forecast suggests that I might get a couple of more chances at it early this week.
