running (night) 1:05:03 [2]

Inspired by PGs nighttime exploits on Sugarloaf, a variation on Mystery Blazes, testing out a new light that I dought at Lowe's. Not awesome, but not bad at all for something that runs on 3xAAA batteries. Needs some minor mods to get rid of glare on my glasses frames.

Navigation was a little shaky early on, and I picked up a trail of reflective tacks that somebody had set up for a short stretch near the Laurel Jungle. That dumped me out on the Enigma Road, but somehow I wound up going the wrong direction, and didn't realize it until I saw the lights of the Xmas Bridge house. When I started the Mystery Blazes section, I took the light off my head and carried it in my hand at waist level. That was a remarkable improvement. I had by far the easiest time ever getting through that section (in the dark). This supports what Fred and Jeff have said about wanting a belt-buckle light for trail running.

Once I hit the Friendly Trail, I did quite a bit of the rest with no light, just a quarter moon. I love how bright winter moons are.
