7 AM

Running (Road) 15:19 [2] 3.53 km (4:20 / km)
ahr:134 max:157 shoes: Asics DSTrainer 20 (Mental)

Down to Studley - bit late and sleepy.

Running (Threshold) 39:42 [4] 9.97 km (3:59 / km) +17m 3:57 / km
ahr:161 max:174 shoes: Asics DSTrainer 20 (Mental)

Parkrun at a tempo effort (17.41 - Studley is not a quick course by any stretch of the imagination), then 10min, 5min T.

Not feeling as warmed up for this as I would have liked but got through it OK.

R outside calf just seized up a little bit right at the end of the last rep. Annoying but hopefully not too long-term.

Running 1:56 [2] 0.45 km (4:18 / km)
ahr:139 max:148 shoes: Asics DSTrainer 20 (Mental)

Running (Road) 15:22 [2] 3.4 km (4:31 / km) +12m 4:27 / km
ahr:137 max:148 shoes: Asics DSTrainer 20 (Mental)

Jogging with Pat.

First 45mins surprisingly easy, remainder surprisingly hard. I think I'm starting to aclimatise though - high twenties feeling lovely.

Collingwood

Session with Will and partly Aston (before he bitched out because he started too fast).

5x (300m [100 jog], 300m [3min])

A day too soon I reckon - absolutely dying. Lactic city hit immediately but got through it in mostly consistent 47s.

Running (Road) 15:49 [1] 3.23 km (4:54 / km) +12m 4:48 / km

Northcote with Will.

Regular stuff plus some low-high SL med ball twists which were good and I'd like to do again.

shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (Blue/Red)

Orienteering (Sprint) 18:21 [3] 4.62 km (3:58 / km) +9m 3:56 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (Blue/Red)

Last day of camp - back in Canberra.

Really dying a bit but got out for Will's sprint race at respectable effort level.
11 AM

Running 7:42 [1] 1.38 km (5:35 / km) +9m 5:25 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (Blue/Red)

Orienteering (Sprint) 14:20 [4] 3.43 km (4:11 / km) +4m 4:09 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (Blue/Red)

Final session - Warren lined up a sort-of sprint exibition for the aussies at ANU. Basically I had to run a sprint course at full whack while a whole load of other chased me to see what I do and see what we can all learn from it. The main target was for Martin Dent - an Aussie distance runner who's switched to orienteering. He ran the marathon at London 2012 and was 4th at CG steeplechase so I was feeling a bit nervous about trying to stay ahead of him, especially given how tired I was.

There were 7 people chasing me down in the end and the pressure was high - but this was exactly what I needed to get a really good technical session done and I really enjoyed it. Not many times in the year where you can get near international race pressure.

A good course and area too.

Running (Road) 15:17 [1] 3.07 km (4:59 / km) +29m 4:45 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (Blue/Red)

Really tired now. Time for home.

Running 1:27:22 [2] 17.49 km (5:00 / km) +397m 4:29 / km
shoes: Asics Cumulus 16 #7 (White)

Ran up Mt. Kosciuszko with Will from Charlotte Pass. Australia's highest mountain at 2228m. Went up in cloud then got lucky when it cleared for fantastic views just before we left the summit. Beautiful barren terrain up top that reminded me of Norway.
Giggles at Smiggin Holes and Seaman's Hut.
1 PM

Running 2:27 [1] 0.32 km (7:39 / km) +1m 7:35 / km

Orienteering 35:45 [3] 6.48 km (5:31 / km) +181m 4:50 / km

Camp Champs Middle

Feeling unbelievably wrecked before this and couldn't really muster a warm up. Screwed around technically rushing the first 5 controls, picking up Dante and Angus but letting Brodie catch me by a minute. Then led the pack and got into a better rhythm with more discipline. Managed to drop the group and gain back the minute on Brodie to take the win.
