End of the season for me and I'm really happy with the way it's gone.

My goals were all about the two relays at WOC this year. In the end I didn't manage to get into those teams which I was disappointed about, but I don't want it to be an easy job if we are to be competitive in them.

I'm happy with the way I channeled some of my motivation for them into the Sprint, and made real progress there instead. I managed to mentally unlock something in the way I attack and push myself physically at WOC and the World Games which I hadn't found before. I was very confident and decisive. I was probably in good shape too, though I can't prove it. In both I was down to ~50s behind the winners which is a step up from previous years. Somewhat encouragingly (kind of), I also made clear mistakes in both, without which I could have been in the top 10. I've never seen concrete evidence of that kind of potential in myself before, and it gives me a lot of confidence.

It was also really useful for me to get into the forest this year in the Middle. I didn't do anything groundbreaking, but the WOC experience is valuable and I know what I need to work on for the future there.

Next year, I want to come back with the same decisiveness and confidence in the Sprint, and I also want to make further progress on my speed. I'm not slow, and I had some very encouraging split times on some of the running legs this year, but ultimately I still need to be faster to win a medal.

Looking forward to it.

Now the priority is to get my Achilles properly fixed this month before I start training harder in September. Also I'll probably have some fun.
8 PM

Swimming 30:00 [3]

Went to the pool, bought some goggles and tried to teach myself to swim. The basis of all my knowledge is watching the Olympics a couple of times so I tried to copy that.

Turns out 50m is a long way, but I did manage to do it in one go front crawl by the end, in only 325% of the world record. Breaststroke seems to be easier to do without getting water up my nose.

No triathlons for me just yet.

12 PM

Running (Road) 37:00 [2] 9.1 km (4:04 / km) +100m 3:51 / km
shoes: Nike Pegasus 32 (L Black)

Easy run down to the bank and back to deposit bare dollar.

After behaving itself very well at World Games my Achilles is being a bit moany again so I'm not doing much running. This is my off season now anyway so it doesn't matter much, but I will try to make an effort to fix it.

Also will update AP at some point - have been pretty busy moving house and sightseeing with Mum since I got back.
