Sunday May 14 #

6 AM

Running 8:56 [1] 1.55 km (5:46 / km) +2m 5:44 / km

Rushed

Orienteering 35:12 [3] 5.75 km (6:07 / km) +130m 5:30 / km

WOC Long Test - DNF

I had the first start, which was delayed because they didn't have any clear boxes at the start and had to go fetch them. I ended up feeling quite stressed for the first part of the course, made some poor mistakes and didn't enjoy the orienteering - the ridiculous inconsistency of the vegetation and marsh mapping was annoying me too. By #4 I realised that I didn't actually know why I was running so called it a day and went for a much more enjoyable run on the trails instead.

Running 1:01:19 [2] 12.51 km (4:54 / km) +178m 4:35 / km

More regular Sunday run through the area, spectating a few of the Czech trains starting to form.

Drills 5:05 [1] 0.62 km (8:12 / km) +6m 7:49 / km

Orienteering 37:47 [4] 6.8 km (5:33 / km) +96m 5:11 / km

WOC Middle Test - Voorepalu/Kuka

3rd Brit again but binned by a lot of Fins.

I lost a minute on a parallel error at #5 then felt a bit rushed for a while after. Wasn't happy with my performance but got a bit lucky with the result. I think I can see signs of potential for being good in this terrain though with a little bit of tidying.

Running 18:11 [1] 3.28 km (5:33 / km) +27m 5:19 / km

With squirty birty

WOC Sprint Test - Polva

16th, 3rd Brit. http://media.voog.com/0000/0040/6394/files/Results...

A bit scrappy in the middle, but saved some time by being super fast on the dead running at the end.
Most importantly this is where I got away from Thierry and sealed a 1-0 record against him in sprints so far. I could probably retire happy now.

Running 15:44 [1] 2.79 km (5:38 / km) +4m 5:36 / km

Orienteering (Sprint) 14:07 [3] 3.24 km (4:21 / km) +45m 4:05 / km
shoes: Asics Cumulus 16 #6 (Yellow)

Most of the Euromeeting 2015 Sprint, minus parts in the school and biathlon arena that were closed.

Interestingly it wasn't until we got to the long run across the open field halfway through that I realised I didn't have my compass! I always thought that I used it more than this while sprinting, but clearly not.

Wednesday May 10 #

9 AM

Orienteering 41:01 [2] 5.66 km (7:15 / km) +52m 6:56 / km

Easy training on Lajavangu. Incredibly gorgeous forest, loving it. 2.5m contours looking very flat and vague in the western part.

Running (Terrain/Soft) 7:47 [1] 1.39 km (5:36 / km) +1m 5:35 / km

11 AM

Orienteering (Sprint) 18:01 [2] 3.76 km (4:48 / km) +9m 4:44 / km
shoes: Asics Cumulus 16 #6 (Yellow)

Voru

Orienteering (Sprint) 12:55 [3] 3.24 km (3:59 / km)
shoes: Asics Cumulus 16 #6 (Yellow)

Voru Linn - Most of the Women's Easter WRE Sprint course, except the gates into the schools were closed at the end. Good area and a couple of suboptimal routechoices.

Running (Road) 4:35 [1] 1.07 km (4:17 / km) +0m 4:17 / km
shoes: Asics Cumulus 16 #6 (Yellow)

2 PM

Orienteering 37:09 [1] 5.33 km (6:58 / km) +52m 6:39 / km

Haanja W, easy pace again. After this morning's heavenly experience I didn't bother with long socks - not the best plan. 5m contours not making much more sense tbh but I was getting a bit tired.
