Rowing Machine 8:22 [3] 2.0 km (4:11 / km)
slept:6.75 weight:164.2lbs shoes: 2012 merrell trail glove

I had in mind warming up and then trying a shorter piece for speed, like chitown did with his 500 this morning, but seemed like this was going ok after a few strokes and stayed with it. A new seasonal PR for the distance, about 4 seconds faster than the old one back in July. Splits: 2:07.6, 2:06.3, 2:05.2, 2:03.1. 72nd percentile, so something left to shoot for.

Running 37:26 intensity: (11 @1) + (22:21 @2) + (12:49 @3) + (2:02 @4) + (3 @5) 2.04 mi (18:21 / mi) +65m 16:42 / mi
ahr:129 max:162 shoes: 2020 White Gel Kayanos

With microspikes. Nice out, but slippery. Probably running snowshoes would be a little better. There are a few places out there where Zack was out in the Polaris searching for firewood, and those are better for being tamped down.

At the lake. Plenty cold, slippery footing.

Gym 1:00:00 [3]
slept:6.25 weight:162.2lbs

In the gym with Eric. Hip is generally pretty jolly. The doc said it might take several weeks to be effective. It was quite sore the day she did it, but fine yesterday and today.

Today: stretching RDLs, several sets with85#, Trx push-ups, bands, step ups, squats with dumbbell and shoulder press at the top.

Hike 50:43 intensity: (3:47 @1) + (40:52 @2) + (3:02 @3) + (2:55 @4) + (7 @5) 2.68 mi (18:55 / mi) +140m 16:17 / mi
ahr:115 max:162 shoes: 2020 Blue Gel Kayanos

Around the neighborhood on roads with Rhonda.

Hike 41:20 intensity: (41 @0) + (31:36 @1) + (6:17 @2) + (1:39 @3) + (1:07 @4) 1.43 mi (28:55 / mi) +41m 26:32 / mi
ahr:104 max:148 shoes: 2020 White Gel Kayanos

In the snow, with icebugs.

Note

The strangeness of Amazon prime. The back story is that one of our new kittens, Figaro, has a fixation on sneaker laces and likes biting them off right even with the top grommet. So I thought I should get some new ones, found a suitable looking pair for $4.99. But then I look at the next one over and it is two pair for $7.99, and since I’m not convinced he has it out of his system, two pair seems reasonable, but then I see 3 pair for $2.99, and that is what I decide to buy. When I add it to the cart, though, it is discounted to $1.49. Free shipping. Really? And sure enough, today the guy drives his van up to the house to deliver my $1.49 package. Pretty amazing.

Checking out the snow on the dog loop. Plenty of tracks, mostly bunnies and deer. About 3"+, but probably disappearing before long. With microspikes, just in case.

With Eric in the gym. Stretching, bands, deadlifts, pull downs, push-ups, back extensions, squats.

Note

Got a corticosteroid injection in my R trochanteric bursa. That was what the doc came up with after reviewing my MRI. She said it might take a month to really be effective. Meanwhile, it is a bit sore today.

The other thing that came up is that my BP has been elevated of late, after a fairly lengthy prior period of being relatively low, so starting on some meds for that, the lowest dose. Rhonda checks hers fairly often, so I checked mine a few weeks back and it was high, then kept a record checking it every day for two weeks.
3 PM

Hike 44:58 intensity: (10 @0) + (19:19 @1) + (13:55 @2) + (11:31 @3) + (3 @4) 1.55 mi (29:01 / mi) +45m 26:36 / mi
ahr:114 max:147 shoes: 2019 Icebug Aurora BUGrip

In the snow, about an inch so far, still falling, but not likely to amount to much. In icebugs, which were not much help on sections where the snow was on top of ice.

With Rhonda at McLean. A fair number of people there, but not like last time we were here and couldn’t get into the parking area. Pretty cold today, but we were moving briskly.
