Back exercises. Eric has me down to every other day, and I find I feel a lot better on the days I do them.

Slept in this morning, entertaining myself when I woke up at 5:20 to see the lovely moonset.

With Rhonda from PV. They were working on the bridge near Campbell Rd, had a big crane moving beams into place, so that was a good place to turn around. First time on the W side of the river since they chip-sealed it several weeks ago. Not very pleasant. The chip seal is pretty gritty feeling, and the surface underneath is not particularly smooth, so it is just generally bumpy. Don't think I will come this way much now.

In West Simsbury, not much time, so just a short outing, and one of my better ones this year, a little more snap in the legs. Not far into it I was on Hedgehog, ran into a couple of rather animated guys coming the other way who told me a bear had just crossed in front of them. Gee, those guys are everywhere now.

Workout session with my personal trainer Eric. New exercises, pretty hard some of them. He is optimistic I will work through these back issues, and I do seem to be making progress. Not a quick process, though.

Really wanted to get out, and managed it in between rain showers. Rhonda and Zack were up checking out Colebrook reservoir for kayaking, didn't quite get there to meet them and they picked me up on the way back.

Had a bit of a hair-raising experience on the way down the hill on route 318 when a yearling bear scampered across the road in front of me. Hit the brakes pretty hard, the bear got across safely.
