From Mike and Cindy's in New Hartford to Litchfield. Family trip with M&C, their daughter Lindsay and Rhonda. Stopped for lunch at the estimable west street grill in Litchfield. Very pleasant. Lots of hills.

Came across a yearling bear at about mile 2.5. He skedaddled.

Ride with Zack in Nassahegon. He has a loop he likes, and since there are a lot of turns, he waited for me at the intersections. He is quite patient with the old man. I did a lot better today than yesterday, only a couple of near tumbles, no bloodshed, nothing really scary, and made a fair amount better time. Something to be said for practice. Same route as yesterday, 15 min or so faster, I think. This route is all single track, not too rocky, but a fair amount of roots and very twisty. Narrow enough that it is no wider than the handlebars in a lot of places. A very good workout for me, and more of an upper body than a lower body workout.

A little late for class. Rhonda had a going away party last night for one of the girls, moving far away in Simsbury, almost to George and Lyn's. Between the party and a generally unsettled night I got up late, and several of the girls did too.

At Nassahegon with my tour guide Zack. It is his new favorite place. Technically demanding for me, but he is a congenial tour guide. One tumble onto a stick drew some blood, reinforced the need for caution. Not as good balance as I had years ago. No surprise. Did reasonably well considering.
