Hike 1:30:00 [1]

On the way up to Middlebury. Stopped at Skylight Pond trail head to look for Curly. She was working on her last two peaks in her quest for the 100 highest peaks in New England. A foot of snow. Road into trail head was dicey, with birch trees bent down over it. Trail was more of the same. Curly had the sense to wear snowshoes, so we climbed in her tracks, and surprised her when we encountered her on her way down. Trail was too hard to follow. She didn't make it to the top.

Orienteering 2:15:00 [1]

course setting at Sessions Woods - mostly walking

Gym 45:00 [3]

Rhonda's 6am class. The exercises are excellent, but lots of nagging little injuries make it difficult, including the bruised heel of my left hand (from a fall at the Highlander), and the strained shoulder (from picking up the roll of geotextile to bring it back up from the bridge). These things just aren't getting any better so far.

Hike 1:00:00 [1]

With Rhonda and Hazel. Down Doyle Rd and back, just before dark.

treadmill 30:00 [3] 2.63 mi (11:24 / mi)

Mostly fast walking at 12:30 pace. Ran 1/2 mile at 6:40 pace in the middle. Not bad. Haven't been on the treadmill in several months, maybe since the winter.

Gym 45:00 [2]

Mary Ellen's morning class. Some pretty tough stretches.

Gym 45:00 [3]

Rhonda's morning class. First time in over a month, and I need it. Really tight from lots of bridge work and not much stretching.

Gym 1:00:00 [2]

Mary Ellen's evening class.

Hike 1:00:00 [1]

With Rhonda and Hazel - down Doyle, across on Wright Trail, back on Left Rd. Doyle Rd and Lans's fire road both badly washed out. Left Rd pretty good, although it could use a little drainage work.

Orienteering race 28:31 [5] *** 2.9 km (9:50 / km) +50m 9:03 / km
spiked:14/15c slept:7.25 weight:159.5lbs shoes: integrator-spikes

Sprint 1 at Trout Brook Valley
A little trouble getting into the map, including a big boom at #2 - just not paying enough attention. From 12 to 13 wandered right on the way there and got into a knee deep marsh. Not so bad, except for the face plant half way across. Really cold!!!

Orienteering race 19:24 [5] *** 2.3 km (8:26 / km) +50m 7:36 / km
spiked:14/14c shoes: integrator-spikes

Sprint 2, Trout Brook Valley. Much better run. No mistakes - just a little slow.

Orienteering race 22:07 [5] *** 2.2 km (10:03 / km) +75m 8:35 / km
spiked:10/14c shoes: integrator-spikes

Sprint 3 Trout Brook Valley. No major mistakes - just a few minor bobbles, but at this speed they cost plenty. I could really feel the hills after the first two runs, and so was much slower. Got home in time to spread some more hay on the trails.
