I was talking with PG about hill climbing and that reminded me that I have not been up the Devil's Elbow in quite a long time, probably more than a year. That got me to wondering about whether my new climbing approach would work out well for it. The route is a loop from home down Wright Rd to 179, up Case to Edgerton to 219, then 219 to Ratlum to Ratlum Mt, where lies the Elbow. There is also a pretty good hill on Case, and I made it up that in my 3rd lowest gear, seated, reasonably comfortable. Eventually to the Forearm, and made it up that, counseling myself to be patient, also in the 3rd lowest gear, then the road bends right and gets a bit steeper, question of whether to downshift or stand. I stood for about 20 turns then sat again for about 30 more, then stood for 20 and I was done. Very satisfactory.

Carrying some extra g on this trip, too, after a wonderful party at Lina and Angelo's more or less in honor of PG's birthday. Quite a fine time, and quite a fine family.
