Last day. Woah - gonna miss this 9 to 5 ;) Flat cruising for the first 20km, before we were treated to our last hills. Quite enjoyed those and then dropped into the plains and braced ourselves for some traffic. It was pretty much impossible to avoid highways on the way in so we just had to put our heads down and deal with it. Hot, loud and scary. We rolled into Pireas (the port of Athens) and the finish was a little anticlimactic as we didn't have a specific spot to finish at. We just rode along the harbour road until we found a statue with a bar right next to it and that was that!

Today we visited Delphi (well worth making sure the route went past here) and since even a rather rushed visit took us 2 hours, we had to break up the day to avoid the heat. First section was the 10km, 400m climb to Delphi itself, which we did before the opening time and were the first ticket-holders of the day. Then 2 hours admiring the ancient ruins and museum, followed by another 11km, 400m climb up to Arachova, which we reached at 11ish. We enjoyed that town (and lunch + a few beers) and eventually rolled out at 4pm for the mostly downhill/flat final 60km to Aliartos. Really impressed by Delphi and all the mountains in this area - wasn't expecting that at all! Final day into Athens tomorrow...

Rollercoaster day along the Southern Greek coastline. Struggled to find food so survived on chips, biscuits and cokes to get us through. 2nd puncture of the trip - I've been very lazy with keeping the tyre pressures topped up. Got very hot towards the end. Tomorrow we climb up to Delphi and beyond. Will probably do some late riding after visiting the archaeological site.
