White water rafting on the Vaal River for Devan's bachelor's. The water-level was pretty low so the rapids were quite easy... fun day out though.

Adventure Racing race (Swazi Xtreme Pro) 12:57:00 [3] 60.0 km (4.6 kph) +818m
shoes: Salomon XT Wings 2

Another Swazi, another DNF. I made peace with this one while limping all the way up from the Lusutfu Gorge. We covered 222km of the (somewhat extended!) 380km compulsory race distance and I really enjoyed those first 2 days :-) My feet weren't happy at all when we got to T8, hence the withdrawal. All the Pro teams behind us elected to short course from T8 to T10 and continue with the sport race from there.

We were placed fairly well (about 8th overall I think) until the long river paddle on the Lusutfu. Our boat was taking on a lot of water into the hull and we had to pull over on the side every few hundred metres to drain the water again. Hence what should have been a 4 hour leg became a 7 hour epic for us (excuse the pun!).

Legs we completed:

1. Run/scramble (11km) + 2OPs
2. MTB (61km)
3. Paddle (17km)
4. Hike/Run (8km)
5. Hike (18km)
6. MTB (52km)
7. MTB (18km)
8. Paddle (17km)
9. Hike (20km)

Logging each discipline separately - this is for the hiking/running.
