08:00 - Palmiet AR in Kleinmond. We did this race as final prep for the Bull of Africa and it went very well (4th place out of 12 starting teams on the long course). The top teams left us in their dust but pace isn't a concern for us right now :-) We started with 6km trail run and white water rafting down the palmiet river (exciting stuff) followed by 14km hike & beach walk to a lagoon near Hermanus. 15km of paddling synergies and much huffing and puffing later we found ourselves on the 42km MTB, collecting checkpoints rogaine style. We started the final 18km hike as it got dark and tagged pretty much every peak in the reserve before dropping back down to the finish just after midnight. Twas a great route with some excellent weather. The full moon over the sea at night was pretty special too. Only issue is that I seem to have hurt my knee and foot pretty badly on a 45km trail run last weekend. These injuries came back during this race and I hope I can shake them within the next 3 weeks... let's see what the physio says :-(

07:30 - Took it easy(ish) on the cycle challenge today. Didn't want to risk an injury by flooring it. Ended with 420 Calories at an average of 215W.

08:00 - Did 2 laps of the Suikerbosrand overnight hiking trail. Tried to jog all the downhills and flats but started hurting at about 38km and had to walk the rest. First lap (22.5km) in 2:55 and second lap in 3:50... maybe I should have started a little slower.
